If you just want to make a CD with whatever info on it, you need a CD-R http://www.howstuffworks.com/question287.htm

That is pretty much it C.Ann. CD-RW means CD re-writable. A CD-R means CD-writeable. A re-writeable means that you can get cerain rewritable CDs and use them over again like you would do a floppy disk.
