30% getaway rates beat 5 night / 2 free

I did the math and the 30% spring getaway room-only rates ($165 Paradise Pier, $245 Grand Californian) with the special DLR site rate for tickets ($169 5 days, $173 6 days for adults or kids) beats the total package price of the 5 night / get 2 free package by about $100.

• Bought separately - total cost room & tickets for 3 people 5 nights at Paradise Pier was $1515.75
• Bought separately - total cost room & tickets for 3 people 5 nights at Grand Californian was $1975.75

Did you mean the buy 3 get 2 free at DLR?? It's not a buy 5 get 2 (for a full 7 nights) like what was offered at WDW. I'm confused, because 3/5= a 40% discount.

edited to add.... I just went and ran the numbers for the first of Feb (1-6) and came up with the following:
Paradise Pier on the 3/2 deal= $1274.52
Paradise Pier on the 30% deal= $1344
Grand Californian on the 3/2 deal= $1739.52
Grand Californian on the 30% deal= $1744

For the 30% deal, I included the 6 day hopper tickets that you are priced for in the 3/2 deal.

Enjoy 2 more nights FREE when you buy a 3-night hotel, 5-day ticket package*. To qualify, buy a 3-night stay at a Disneyland® Resort Hotel or participating Good Neighbor Hotel and a 5-Day Disneyland® Resort Park Hopper® Souvenir Ticket. Valid for arrivals through April 29, 2010 with travel completed by May 4, 2010; book by April 1, 2010.

It may be a 40% room discount, but that obviously must not include the current ticket discount they offer.

• 5 day park hopper for child or adult = $167
• 6 day park hopper for child or adult = $173

So if you do the math getting the two specials separately (ticket special + 30% getaway room only special) comes out less than the 5-day with 2 nights free package.

Did you see my math in my edit? I ran it, and it still came up cheaper to do the 3/2 deal. I was basing the costs on your family (2 adults + a 5yr old).
Paradise Pier:
$825 for 5 nights on the special + $173 x 3 people = $1344
Grand Californian:
1225 for 5 nights on the special + $173 x 3 people = $1744

I'm still getting the same numbers for the 3/2 deal when I plan it out that I got earlier.

Am I doing something differently than what you are doing?

I'm soooo confused!! What components are you buying seperately? The tickets are included in the price of the 5 day 2 night free offer, because it is a package offer, not a room offer. Are you adding the cost of the tickets into the final price on the offer? Can you tell I totally confused here?

Okay, I see where you got the $1600 for 3/2 deal... you ran numbers during peak (whereas I was quoting during early Feb).

Quoting for the week of Mar 14-22:
Paradise Pier on the 3/2 deal = $1601 and change
Paradise Pier on the 30% = $980 room + $519 tickets = $1499

This is where you get the savings of $100. It all depends on what week your run the numbers. So technically, we were both right!
