3 yo Counting days til WDW

I tried posting this thread a number of times earlier today on the Disney Families board with no success. It wouldn't post. I hope I don't have multiple topics hanging out there.

There is a 3yo boy who is anxious to go to WDW. His family is going over Labor Day weekend. He doesn't yet understand how long a week is and every morning wakes up asking if today is the day.

I suggested putting a Disney sticker on a calendar each day to help him countdown to the day they leave. Do you have any other creative ideas for helping this little guy countdown to the day he gets to see the Power Rangers?

My DS9 understands about the days of the week and how long, but still stresses so I make a chart and have him or his brother mark off the days until we leave. I like the sticker idea as well. I have discovered that my son just really needs the visual to help him cope.

I made a "countdown calendar" for the kids DS3 and DD4 when we just went in March 2005.

I did it on a Word Doc and cut and paste Disney Clip art. I taped one on each of their bedroom doors and every evening we would do "countdown calendar". They are soooo cute; I still have them up.

My kids ask me all the time "when's the next countdown calendar" I tell them that unfortunately the next one won't be out until February.....(gosh that's so long)

Our last trip, my older DS was 3. What we did was make a paper chain. Each morning, we tore off another link of the chain & he knew when all the chain links were gone, it was time to go.

We always made a paper chain when I was young and my dad was in the military -- I understood that each day, I got to take off one piece of the chain and Daddy would be home when all the pieces were gone.

WE did a chain link also. Something that is visual is easier to understand. (and also help them with learning to count!)

Another Vote for Paper Chain. We've done this 3x with DS. And it's interactive. He gets to rip a chain off, and then count the ones left.
