Hi we are going to WDW in May with Me, Dh my dd who is 5 and a WDW pro. My sis and BIL and their 3 year old twins one of which is autistic, I know about the pass we can get to help with lines, but I wonder if we are any more likely to get closer to the food court at CBR if I ask b/c of this, my sis is stressed about taking them so anything I can to to make it easier would be good.

In the past, I have written Disney resorts and let them know I have a disabled child with me, then made clear what I need to make my trip easier. I've always received what I asked for which is usually a quiet room near the food court. I must say, I don't stay at CBR, but I don't see why they would be any different. Just don't show up at the front desk asking for things, it's better to ask a few days in advance when they are assigning rooms.

Melissa,

My son has Asperger's, so I've dealt with some of the same things. We fax the room assignor at our resort 4 days ahead (the fax number is on the back of your confirmation letter). Explain that your nephew is autistic, and you'd like a room in whatever section, if you'd like first floor, etc.

My son loves elevators, so we stopped asking for first floor. He got very annoyed on the trip before last that we didn't have to ride in an elevator. The room requests are easy for us....NON SMOKING. The rest of it, we seem to have a flexible enough child for. I guess it makes up for all he's inflexible about....

Definately call and let them know. I changed ressies a couple of months ago and specifically asked for a first floor room. And explained that my 6 y.o. was diagnosed with PDD. The CM was so wonderful. She put me on hold so she could speak with her supervisor. I know she had to say that all requests can't be guaranteed but what she did was to put a message on our ressie that it was really important we get a first floor room. so basically I'm 99% sure that we'll get what we need. They have never let me down yet.

We are going in October and we are going to really take it easy this trip. Not push it. There have been lots of threads here about taking a child on the spectrum to WDW so you guys will find lots of info.

I have stayed at CBR. It is very nice, but large, so some of the rooms are pretty far away from the food court area. I can't link things very well on this computer. When I get home, if no one else has done it already, I can make some links to info about CBR for you, including maps.

As the others said, it's best to make your requests ASAP, so decide what you need and list them in order of what is most important to you. Whatever you tell them first is what they consider is most important to you, so make sure if "Close to the Food Court" is the most important, you list that first. It's best not to ask for a specific building. Doing that limits the choices available and if that building is not available, the CMs don't know why you requested that building. Although requests are not guaranteed, they will try to give you your first request if at all possible.

Here's a link to the DIS info page about CBR. And here's a link to the map of CBR.
The food court and main pool area are at Old Port Royale. Martinique and Tinidad North are the closest areas to the ffod court. You may see some things on the resort board about renovations at CBR. They are renovating Old Port Royale and expect to be done before Christmas, so it won't affect your plans.
