We were up by about 8.30am and headed over to the restaurant as brekkie was included in the room rate. Here we had the standard 2 eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes and toast along with tea and orange juice for Nathan. I must say being in a town was quite amusing as you get to see 'real America' and all of the staff here were certainly that. I must say today my stomach was not feeling at all good and thought it would soon go. After brekkie we headed off for Emerald Bay. If you were looking at a clock we started off at the 6 'clock position and Emerald Bay was between the 7 and 8. Before leaving South Lake Tahoe we stopped at Safeway for some drinks for the day as it was in the mid 70's low 80's.

The roads heading up to Emerald Bay were quite tight but had great views.

We then arrived at Emerald Bay and the view was fantastic.

After a brief stop we then drove around to the other side for an equally stunning view.

Looking back towards the mountains there was a pretty little waterfall.

By now it was hot and a drink was needed. We the decided that it would be nice to drive the full 75 miles around the lake so off we went. Soon after we had to make a quick stop at a camp site as the Thai from the previous night was not being very kind to me :( After this it was full steam ahead around the lake. We soon got to where the only dam for Tahoe is at Tahoe City and stopped to have a look as there is a bridge next to it called 'Fanny Bridge', apparently it got this name as all you can see are sightseers bottoms as they look over the bridge into the still water trying to catch sight of the trout from the lake!

We were by now nearly at the 12 'clock position on the lake and could see back down the lake to South Tahoe.

Off we went again continuing around the lake until we found another view point that looked out across the lake to the snow topped mountains.

Finally we were back down in South Lake Tahoe and our hotel. Still not sure where to eat that evening we had a walk up to the area by the Ski Gondola but we couldn't find anywhere we liked so we got in the car and after a while found an Applebee's, being as I recognized the name as a chain restaurant we went in and ordered dinner. Still not feeling too good I stuck to diet coke and plainer food. So we started with a shared appetizer which was the Appetizer sampler - Why not have it all? This scrumptious Applebee's sampler includes a shareable platter of Mozzarella Sticks, Spinach & Artichoke Dip, our Cheese Quesadilla Grande and Boneless Buffalo Wings. It was rather yummy :) I then had the Applebee's house sirloin - A 9 oz. steak grilled to perfection and served with garlic mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables and garlic toast. While Nathan decided to go for the Applebee's house sirloin - A 7 oz. steak grilled to perfection combined with Applebee's Riblets - Our famous Riblets basted with Applebee's Signature Barbecue Sauce. Served with fries.. Feeling full we once again skipped dessert. It was then back to the hotel as tomorrow we were off up the mountain on the Gondola.

WOW-those scenery shots are fantastic-i bet it was stunning in 'real life'.Shame you felt a bit icky-i hope it passed quickly.x.

Sorry to read you were unwell. You certainly carried on with an impressive trek despite that. The photos are gorgeous. Let me guess--the hardest part was deciding what view to snap!
