3 resorts in one trip. Crazy?

So we're headed down this summer to coincide with DH's business trip. We were starting out our trip at the BCV. I thought it would be fun to try the AKV over the weekend, just to try. Then we tried to add a night at the BCV at the beginning of our trip, but got waitlisted (fingers crossed everyone), so I booked the first night over the the BWV. I'm not too intimidated by this, since Disney makes moving so easy. But will we be making one move too many?

You will barely get checked into BWV before you're checking back out to head over to BCV. Each time you move you will likely be without a room for a large portion of the day. I agree. The more you move, the more likelihood of things getting lost or left, you do stress about your things, you cant really sleep in because you have to be out by 11, although Disney makes it easy, you still have to pack up and check your bags in each time. You have to be in your room for them to deliver the bags, etc.

I would have no more than a backback to move more than twice in 1 week and that is pushing it.

I think checking in is the most stressful part of owning DVC and on vacation, I want to minimize stress.

i agree with the PPs. one move in a week is a lot, 2 would make me (more ) bonkers!
we like to streeeeeetch out & relax, & that would take too many unpacking, repacking's (i like everything out of the suitcases & in drawers or on hangers within in an hour, suitcases in closet, & then i feel like it's home )

I just got back & we had to move 3 times, & it was terrible!! I will never do that again. We stayed at the BW the 1st night, but we were put in a handicap accessible room. I asked to be moved, because my 3 yr old needed a bathtub. We had to stay in the room the 1st night though. So in the morning I had to pack up & put our things in storage, until the room was ready. It was not good not being able to go to the room during the day. Then we moved again 2 days later to the GF. I just did not like having to wait to check in again. I think that was the worst part, but packing was no fun either. I felt like I could not unpack anything, & get settled in.

Will you have a car for this trip? If not and if it is for one week I would not do it. However we will be down for 12 nights, will have our own car and are going to change twice. 5 nights @ SSR, 2 nights cash in a mod, 5 nights @ BWV or OKW. Maybe we're crazy, too!

Personally, for the difference in cash between discounted SSR and the mod, I would pay cash at SSR, link it to the points ressie and avoid the 2 day move in between.

Or split the cash nights. 1 night SSR cash and 1 night BWV cash link them to avoid the move.

I think that 2 day in the moderate in the middle is really going to put a monkey wrench in 3 or 4 days of your stay.

A 2 day move is killer. We have split our 12 night stays up before, but no split is shorter than 5 nights.

We did have our own car also and we still felt that 1 move is enough.

We loaded up to go to WDW, we unpacked, we packed it back up, we unpacked, we packed it back up, we unpacked and then when its time to leave, you pack it back up and unpack when you get home

Is it just you and DH? If so, I'd say "Go for it." I've stayed at 2 different resorts in 4 nights-2 nights at each resort. In May I've already planned to move twice in 7 nights. I've never had a problem with moving around-just incorportated it into my plans.

If you are a DVC member, you have many years ahead of you so you don't have to rush and stay at all the resorts on one trip. Add me to the group that likes to unpack and stay in one place for the entire trip.

We'll book a studio night at BCV for stormalong bay without checking out where our main reservation is, thus holding 2 reservations for 1 night. This allows a split off from the group we usually invite and gives us both a spa and pool day by ourselves. This is exactly why we added 50 points at BCV when they 1st went on sale.

We've done (and will do again this year) 3 resorts including Vero as well - due to the logistics of driving, we'll always do Vero in the middle of 2 WDW stays.

Do you plan on Dining plan? Split stays offers some flexibility on dinning plan since you can pick something different for each reservation. But it also makes it more time consuming since you probably need to check in in the morning to get the new credit. You also have to use up some credit the day you check out.

We moved from the Beach Club to the Boardwalk for our last night of the trip. I thought it would be an easy move since the two resorts are so close. But it turned out to be a hassle. Even though Disney moves your bags, you need to pack up and unpack. We got someone who was "earning my ears" when we check in to the Boardwalk. It took more than 30 minutes to get our keys with the dinning credits. Overall, we wasted at least one hour in the morning just to walk over and get keys then walk back to Epcot. Then it turned cold that night, we went back to get warmer cloth before dinner. We had to go back to our room to wait for our bags. That took at least 20 minutes. By the time I found everything, the kids had TV on and did not want to go out. I had to go out to get food and use up the snack credits. I would not do another split stay unless it is a much longer trip.

Yes,

we did 3 resorts last year we did 4 nights of each: BWV, VWL, BC, and then we added on 2 nights to BWV at the last minute. It was a hassle, but I enjoyed it.

This year it will be HH for 3 nights, VWL for 5 nights, and BWV for 7 nights.

When you put it like that, it doesn't sound so good. It is just DH and I but still.....I'm re-thinking it. Someone mentioned a 40% AP discount? When (if at all) would that come out for a November trip?

We moved once within OKW and then another move to a Fort Wilderness Cabin within a nine day visit and the moves were irritating and disruptive. Don't do it unless you have to!

i say go for it - if you think you can do it handle it why not.

we're planning a 14 day trip next year with one resort change half way through.

we're getting a 10 day park pass and adding water park so the day's we check in (plus 2 other days) we'll be going to the water park right after breakfast and after we check into the second resort - apparently we can have disney transfer our luggage but we'll have a car so we can just bring it with us.

check it into the luggage hold and when we return from the water park we'll call for them to bring it up to us.

just make sure you're organized and have fun.

We stayed at 3 resorts during an 8 night stay on our first trip to Disney. I was so excited because it was our first trip that we could have switched every night and it wouldn't have bothered me! It was fun to see the different resorts, but I doubt I would do it again like that. We do often split our stays between 2 resorts though still - the whole packing and unpacking thing really doesn't bother me too much.

We've stayed in one resort the whole time and we have moved at times. It is not that big of a deal to us. We are usually in the parks so we don't wait on the room.

The up side to this is having the dining plan for only part of your trip. Since 7 to 9 days can be a much for having the DDP the whole time, we like to split it.

Also, we can save some points by getting a standard at BW for part of the time, yet change to BCV where the kids have access to its pool for part. This coming May we are staying at AKV and then BCV. Our AP's will expire two to three days before we leave, but we won't renew. We will swim at BCV, go to the water parks (on an AP for waterparks) and go to DTD and to the P & P party.

Sometimes we will book a value for one to two nights before switching to DVC, especially on a weekend.

I often stay in two resorts, and sometimes three. It doesn't have to be as dramatic as some posters make it seem. Honestly, you only have so much stuff with you - you are not packing up your household. It shouldn't take very long to pack things if you've been at all smart about how you unpacked. Disney makes it easy to move between resorts, and if you don't have any children with you it's no big deal to be without a room during the day. As far as sleeping in, I can sleep until 10:30am, get a quick shower and be out by 11:00am if I've gotten organized the night before.
