Well, thanks to DH who put a link in our October plans I now have a very crazy vacation booked for October.

First of all I was not planning on a third trip to Disney this year, but fall break, APs and unexpectedly reasonable airfare made a budget trip possible.
I had 84 points left so plan was initially myself and my 2 teen boys to SSR in a standard studio for 6 nights. $500 for air, room with points and APs made for a great budget trip.

Then DH decides to pout because he wants to go too. This is unusual for him because he is generally pretty 'meh' about Disney. Okay,no sweat. Oops, airfare has increased to $350. He needs a ticket, $330 for 5 day through UCT with Amex rebate...but here is the real gem...he won't stay in a studio! What a prima Donna!!!

So I have been creating all kinds of scenarios and crunching numbers and stalking the RAT like a madwoman. So here is where I ended up.

2 nights at AKL Jambo in a standard 1 bedroom. 50 points.

3 nights at the Beach Club 1 bedroom paying cash with the member 25% discount. $1500 with tax. Gulp.

1 night Boardwalk standard view 22 points.

So my budget trip just increased by $2200...and I am switching rooms 3 times. I have wait listed for Beach Club for those 3 nights but seriously, during Food and Wine, not gonna happen.

Thanks for letting me rant!

I'm assuming you've already made the change, so I wish you luck! However, I would've stuck to my guns and said we are staying put in the studio! $2200 is a lot of extra money + the hassle of making that many moves in only 6 nights. Two resorts would be more tolerable.

I love split stays! Planning on 3 resorts in 5 nights in December. But ... we'll have a car and I've planned the resorts around the park days. Maybe 3 nights BC/AK or BW then SSR or OKW? You are all young enough for the bus ride home after a long day in the parks!

Wow! I do like 1 bedrooms though. Enjoy the trip!

Hmm a DH who won't stay in a studio but wants to go to WDW? Sounds like a perfect opportunity to broach the subject of adding on lol

I've never been able to secure a cash night when i needed one.

No way would i switch 3 X in 6 nights. Would bank the points and stay on or offsite (WBC probably not available this late but great option).

Good luck

Well, I was able to maneuver us into 1 be standard view at Jambo for 2 nights, 2 weekend nights value cash for $900, and two nights value at Jambo on points. I was also able to book DH on a FF mile flight with $100 out of pocket.
So now I am looking at $1330 over. The things you do for love.

You did good, and saved some money!:thumbsup2

Similar craziness here. We had a studio booked at AK for a week in May. His company decided to do conference for all personnel nationwide in his position and sent survey asking which of two weeks are best for each. He and a couple others had the second week scheduled for vacation and so did others the week before. It drug out forever and a couple weeks ago they announced it would be our vacation week. He needed to stay at conference hotel and I did not want to stay at AK alone. We have Sea World APs and his hotel is close to there so made sense to move up there and me do SW while he works and golfs.
It was too late to bank points, so we cancelled some nights and booked for the week before. He now is taking one vacation day our planned week and three the week before.
We will be staying in a hotel the first night, AK, an inn room at Vero, two nights studio at Vero, two nights of our original AK reservation, three at conference hotel, back to AK for a night, then two offsite.
We have never done a split stay other than Vero and WDW.
How's that for crazy!!!
