My allergies are weird...they hit then go away, sometimes they just hit and hit and hit and hit...anyway, I just needed to stay indoors and relax. Not difficult to do at McMenamins Grand Lodge in Forest Grove, Oregon! We even got to meet a couple getting married Sunday there, and since we were a McMenamins wedding couple (though not at that Inn) we were just excited for them. Bought them a card and a small giftcard (enough for a bottle of McMen wine) and surprised the heck out of them! :goodvibes

I wasn't able to get out and play disc golf with E and R, but that's OK, it was over 90 degrees and that's NOT pleasant for me at all. On Saturday we walked a few blocks to get to the store (we weren't enjoying the desserts there and just wanted those tiny containers of Haggen Dasz ice cream), it was after 6pm, and the sun was still so hot and burning that I got color on my legs from the walk. Tanning rays after 6pm! In Oregon!

Considering it was 100 degrees on our wedding day during an August not far from where we stayed over the weekend, I shouldn't have been surprised, and yet...I was.

Decision has been made but I'll talk about it in a week or so, not yet. Tough tough decision!

How sweet that you went to where you got married and took E wit you. We tried to take the kids to the chapel where we got married. But it is no longer standing. I was kind of sad about that. It's so sweet that you did that for the bride and groom.

I am glad that you two have been able to decide on the job issue.

We didn't go exactly where we got married, not on this trip, and he doesn't remember us visiting the place a couple years ago (remembers other obscure things from that camping trip but not that place). I kinda wanted to stop in for a snack (it's also a McMenamins place...they buy old buildings and turn them into brewpubs and event spaces) but then if it had been set up for a wedding I would have felt jealous or something weird like that. Weird mood.

That couple was so surprised! I first met them b/c I met the bride's mom...she and I were both in a cool "living room" type area at the Inn, sitting out some allergies...and we just started talking. :)

What's supa cool about the trip is that we finally got possession of and rights to our wedding photos. We have a great album and we bought some $$$ prints for a few people, but they've had our images all this time. They didn't even have the option to purchase negatives/JPGs (when we first hired them in '00 they used film Hasselblad cameras...then during a halt to the wedding proceedings we had, they switched to digital and didn't tell us when we re-hired them...that caused some BAD feelings when I realized it ON our wedding day, but the images are just fine...I was anti-digital until about '04 and I got over it, LOL) when we first hired them. But then there was a big fire in the warehouse district where their building was....I guess the photog and his wife lost their OWN wedding negatives in the fire, and after that they WANTED to have their couples own their images outright. So we were finally able to do that, and although it's terrifying, it's wonderful as well.

I thought I had been the only hold out on the digital front. Now I wish that there had been digital cameras when the kids were little. I was that way with cds, dvds, and mp3 too. Silly I know.

Ooh I held out on CDs for SO long!!!!! I remember having a long argument with a guy I knew in college, all about the sound, the clarity, richness, the FEEL of LPs vs the awful tone of CDs. Criminy, what was I thinking? :rotfl:

We haven't seen Titanic either...we're just stubborn!

********

Robert goes and makes a decision (by the time he left for work this morning we'd hashed out all we could, and the ball was completely in his court, no recriminations from me about whichever thing he opted to do), and finds out that two companies really really REALLY want him and are willing to put up a fight. This is not a bad thing! But it takes a solid decision and turns it into a "what happens next" sort of thing!

This along with the changes he's feeling from the prolactinoma treatment is going to help his self esteem so much! This time next year I probably won't even recognize what I know about him from this year. (poorly worded sentence)

What does he do that makes him so in demand??

He has customer service, e-commerce, Lead (management), and computer tech skills. He also has sales skills from his time at Saturn. He's also very personable and can teach/train anyone (but me) to do anything. He interviews very well (as long as his hair is cut, otherwise he looks beastly, LOL). He has never burned bridges (unlike me...when I quit amazon and drugstore, both, I quit by email at the very last minute and even got my immediate supervisor fired at amazon...well, I helped at least b/c I documented what he was doing and saying when no one else had done that), and he maintains friendships and contacts.

He is shocked by all of this, really! He didn't even get 2 years finished at college, and that has been a chip on his shoulder for years and years. But he applies for the jobs he thinks he can do, even if they state "bachelors degree required", because he knows that in most cases he can show that he knows what they need him to know.

Honestly, I didn't see Titanic and I have never seen a Star Wars movie either. I resist change. We still camp in a tent and not in a RV. Old fashioned I guess. I think all of the growth in Robert since they started to actually treat him is wonderful.

No Star Wars movies???? Fainting. :)

We camp in a tent too. A big tent, as we like being able to stand up, but a tent all the same. :)

We have moved from using one big tent to using to medium size tents. The kids are teenagers. Well, as of the 25 they will all be teenagers. The girls need more privacy so they have their own tent. Still right with us, but kind of like having their own room.

Nope, no Star Wars, and I am sure there are others I have missed. I didn't miss any of the POTC ones. But, the only one I saw in the theater was the second one.

I'm a rebel.:rotfl:

Love the TR, love the pics of Eamon. I've really wanted to try the veggies/gratin since they added it to the menu and you convinced me it's on for my next trip, it looks delish! Thanks for all the good info...as always!:)

Sounds very talented! sales skills are always good, and personality is #1 in my book! Good luck with whatever he chooses...it's nice to be in demand!

Hi all!

This has nothing to do with anything, but I hadn't seen it mentioned online anywhere, and I just wanted to state for my own little record how COOL it is that today is 7-8-9. :) Can't wait until August 9th next year. :goodvibes

I forgot about that.

Someone on my FB mentioned that at 12:34 and 56 seconds this morning, it was, of course, 123456789. :) So he was far more clever than I was. :)

Got my photopass CD. Feel silly for spending that money on so few pictures, but oh well! Research purposes, right?

And of course we got our wedding pictures all on DVD (aka CD...not like they are a movie, but officially they are on DVDs, Robert must remind me each time I say CD). So I have a feeling that a new photograph/CD organizational system is coming up, and perhaps some picture posts just for the heck of it.

Oh that sounds fun. We are going up to the gold country tomorrow. I think that I will post pictures on an old thread I started with pictures from the state and I will put it in my signature again. We were gonna go to Lake Tahoe but we have so many errands to run before hand that we would be leaving too late for a full day. I know I would enjoy seeing your pictures. I forgot to mention I am on FB too. I started because I wanted to do the HOJO thing.

Maybe I will post some of the wedding pix. Looked at hubby's pix from the disc last night, oh MAN we should have KNOWN something was wrong. He is so close to "wedding weight", but he looks SO different, and his exercise level is actually more, now. We should have known something was up!

It's just like I should have brought a wedding pic into my midwives, to show them that I wasn't always a blob (I got pg on wedding night and I changed FAST), b/c they were treating me really poorly based on thinking I was just a blob (here I thought midwives celebrated women of all sizes?), we should have brought a picture of Robert in to the MDs so they could see that *something weird* was going on.

So maybe I'll start a pre-pre-trip up again in THIS thread, and intersperse it with some older pix.

Speaking of that, we have GOT to get hubby and my old kid pictures from various disneyland trips from our parents! My dad and his mom are peas in a pod, b/c they don't DO anything with the pix, but they won't let them go, either!

Yes! Post wedding pictures! And I am sure I am not alone in wanting to see your old kid pictures from Disneyland! I would love to see all of the above in a pre-TR here (is that a Pre-TR for the possible upcoming GCH stay in October for your birthday?)! But we all enjoy your TRs and Pre-TRs anyway, because the are so entertaining to read, so whatever you have to post will be good. I can't wait to see the (few) PhotoPass pictures you have coming too. I certainly hope I can get enough of the PP pics taken in a couple of weeks to make a CD worthwhile, but with reports that photographers are few and far between these days combined with our limited time in the park, I am not certain I will be able to make that happen. But if I do see any around, I will try to coax them to give me every magic shot, in every possible pose, that is available, just to rack up the photos to make the CD worth the $$.

Just b/c I jotted down some numbers on an envelope doesn't mean...oh gosh you people know me, I will try to make this happen (if there's availability) somehow...

I just emailed my dad and stepmom, asking if they have any disney pix. I'm mystified at the lack of disney pix from the trip I know we took with my mom and her second husband...we went to the Grand Canyon before we stopped in Anaheim (total surprise stop, they did a GOOD job) and there are pictures from the Grand Canyon, so I'm mystified. We were a picture taking family...not as many as I take, but then, film was expensive and digital is not...so it's weird to have none.

So I've put the question out there for my dad, and we'll see if they exist! There won't be any cute character pix with me, b/c I was character-phobic, but maybe there's an existing picture of me in the SUPER cool visor bucket hat....or with the orange drink in the orange shaped "cup" I remember vaguely (and someone else somewhere verified that they used to sell orange juice in orange shaped cups).

I'm also hoping that Robert can finally get the box of pictures from his mom! He knows that, unless she did something stupid (as she has been known to do...he used to have Batman #1, one of only something like 6 known to exist, and his mom did the so-stereotypical-of-clueless-mom-it-sounds-like-a-lie thing of throwing it out b/c it was just a comic book...and she'd thrown it out a couple years before he asked her to get it out of storage, so it was LONG gone), she DOES have disneyland pictures, it's just a matter of getting them from her.

Wow! I totally remember those orange juices in the oranges with a straw! Such a classic Disneyland memory! I can also remember the fried chicken we had at the Plaza Inn on one of my first visits. It's weird how food memories are so ingrained.

Yay, someone else who remembers that!!!!!

photopass pix. Some are duplicated just to show you some borders.

These were on his birthday (the May trip) at BBB. If boiseflyfisher pops in, she'll recognize it b/c she saw the finished result. :)

OH that last border's a lot cuter than I thought it would be! On the photopass page it looked like it would be Fall colors.

This looks so much cuter in retrospect and 1.5 months later than it did at the time....

Image027.jpg

Love the border in this one...

We also really liked the FGiT, Alicia. She spent a lot of time and felt really bad when he didn't like it (but wouldn't let her fix it). I know it looks like a mohawk in that pic, but it wasn't, and we should have just had her take some spikes down then, to make it one.

Now, this was before the "big" reveal, and honestly, I've DELETED the big reveal. The heartbroken look on his face just does something to my mama heart, and I couldn't forsee it ever becoming something we'd laugh over, so after almost the full 30 days (I ordered the CD at around 11:30 pm on the 30th day) of back-and-forthing, I deleted it. I know what he looked like and what the picture looked like...that's enough.

But BEFORE that, he was happy with his sword and shield. And for the record, we got that thing on the airplane in our carryon bag, and to this day I don't know how. Sure she knew it was a toy, but still...we're treading careful with the karma of that TSA agent letting it on still hanging over us. :)

Just to show another border.
