I was still on a high from yesterday and wayne was getting really excited as today we were off to Universal - his favourite park !!
We got to universal at about 11am because cameron had a full blown melt down about not going back to Hollywood studios!! We basically sat in the car for 45 mins waiting for him to come join us :lmao:
At one point Dan said why dont we just leave him here? Eventually he did emerge from the villa and got himself in the car still muttering on about how we never did anything for him - the most amusing statement to anyone who knows us really well !!

On getting to Universal we went into guest services to see if they could do anything to help us with the lines - like disney do !! The man in there was rather unhelpful to be honest until I mentioned that disney allows us to use their fast pass line without actually getting a fastpass. All of a sudden we were presented with 4 express passes - think he wanted to get rid of us as cameron was starting another screaming match about being kept in the office when we said we were going to have fun !! Me and wayne both thought tod ay was going to be one of them days when we knew Cameron had aspergers !!
To try and appease cam b4 the masses started tutting we told him to choose a ride - he chose Simpsons so off we go fingers crossed that this was the end of the meltdowns for the day!
The simpsons ride is awesome but man even with express passes we waited for 40 minutes !! keira was too small to ride so we did a parent swap the cm that was operating the ride took keira into alittle room and presented her with a lovely certificate that said undersized but not under appreciated - it enables her to come bk again when she is tall enough and get front of line access !! Keira was impressed as she thought it was a pressie from the simpsons !
As we left the ride we bumped into waynes idols ;

Now this is the part that Universal really do suck at - dinnertime with Keira !! At Disney we have never had a problem finding somewhere to get gluten free food - Universal however suck !! Eventually we were told to go to Finnegans - I hated this place it was loud and our waitress couldnt have been any less friendly if she tried!! The food was nice but nothing amazing!! We turned down dessert which started Cam off again - we left knowing we would never eat there again!!

me and wayne did a parent swap for the big rides and then we took the kids to the fieviel playground finally the kids had a smile on their face the cm in here was fab he had a fab time running round with our kids ! Thn just as we were leaving the playarea dan turned round waving to the cm and fell over hitting his head on the big concrete sardine tin and knocked himself out !!
The cms were fantastic the man who had been playing with the boys instantly took my other 3 away from us and played with them round the corner he was soon joined by a lady who blew bubbles for england o keep keira amused. First aid were with us in seconds and he was fantastic amazingly dan was not concussed he had a super bump growing from the side of his head but he seemed ok !!
After sitting down for half hour with the first aiders we decided it really wasnt our day and we should go home !!
Universal is difficult with kids its really an adult park and i think its 1 that in future we will prob split up for wayne and ben in universal and me and kids in islands !!

Day 13 here

Louise, I'd like to present the Bishop Family with the trophy for Being the Best at Soldiering On No Matter What, with recognition to Cameron for his struggle with his syndrome and special recognition to his brothers, sister, and parents for doing what is necessary to help him with that struggle, while continuing to display good spirits in the face of many obstacles and difficulities. Every trip report is written from a unique point of view which I suppose is why even though the rides, restaurants, and resorts are the same in all of our reports, everyone's report is interesting in its own way. Reading your report is entertaining to be sure, but it's also philosophy forming--which to me seems to be that "good" day or "bad" day, today is the only day we have and we better find some way to enjoy it. Thank you for that.

Poor Dan, hope he was okay afterwards. Photo is really nice.

Ouch :headache: sorry to hear about Dan,hope he was ok.Fantastic picture.x.

Honestly we dont deserve it !! I know i keep saying it but this really is our normal. Thanks for the kind words and its nice to know that other people can see what a wonderful family I know I am truly blessed x
Im glad you think my report is entertaining - I was worried it was going to be so boring to other people.

Should have put he was fine as soon as we got home he forgot all about it and wanted to go for a swim !!

Oh poor Dan, and what a shock for you to deal with, but I'm glad the CM's came up top trumps to help you all :goodvibes

I am really enjoying your reports. I can see how universal would be a bit too adulty for the little ones.

poor dan but poor you worrying about dan.

What a wonderfully honest and refreshing report :goodvibes

I'm not looking forward to the day when you have no more days left to report :sad1:

A bit of an upside down day today, very relieved Dan was okay, what a shock. I think everyone has a day when someone is out of sorts as I think the tiredness kicks in, ours is usually about 4 days in.

Shame about the not so good Universal day (I agree they're not always as good at customer service related stuff as Disney are) but your others have been so fab that i'm sure it didn't overshadow the good times :goodvibes

Our DS is 14 and also Aspergers so we can fully sympathise with what a meltdown, either in private or in public means. Whenever we go to Universal we always go to Guest Relations and explain the situation and we have always been given fast passes without question, so I am surprised the person you dealt with was so unhelpful. But thankfully you got there in the end.
I'm surprised you lasted there so long - I know many who would have thrown in the towel long before you did so well done for sticking it out.

To be honest Kenny i think the big part of why we struggled so much to get fastpasses was that we are a family of 6 and from reading other reports universal only like to cater for families of 4 !
I have been n contact with universal since we cam home and I have been assured that this would not happen again and if it did I should ask to speak to a manager !
The difficulty with having just Cam with aspergers is that the other 3 dont understand why the world revolves around him so they so desperatly wanted to complete the rides on their list so I have to admit I was ready to run home and hide but the rest of the family meant we found the resolve to keep trying !! My friends say im like Dory - just keep swimming just keep swimming :rotfl2:
Funny but oh so very true !!
