Wednesday 21st September
We woke up at 6am which is decidly better than the 4.30 of the previous day so I did a little happy dance that we were going the right way!!
Todays plan was to head to Universal Studios and then go the opposite way to any crowd. The boys however had other ideas and Islands of Adveture was mentioned lots of times.
We waited until just before 9am so we could phone the management company and report the smoke alarms that were beeping continously since we had got there. I had bought batteries the previous day but that didnt seem to stop it so a quick call to management company so they could sort it before I went insane seemed like a good idea.
All sorted and out the door by 9am. Everyone was in good spirits and we turned to the Universal entrance and Oh my God you have never seen so many cars it was a sea of cars and every single pay kiosk was open!!
I asked the guy directing traffic if there was a special event on today that we had missed and he assured me they were as taken aback by the crowds as we were. So now we look at the boys and prewarn them its probably a bad idea to go to Islands and we intend to do Universal instead. Id love to say they took it well but id be lying so I wont!!
We park the car and Cam is quite obviously on the verge of a meltdown so we placate the boys with an " If we can we will go to IOA after Universal!" Still grunting they got out of the car and we followed a sea of people through citywalk. This sea of people continued to IOA as expected whilst we turned right over the bridge and headed to Universal studios.
Even seeing everyone go one way and us another didnt do anything to convince the boys we were doing the right thing!!
As soon as we had got through the turnsiles we headed to Terminator as its a ride that we have never done and one Wayne has really wanted to do. The first show was not until misdday so we carried on towards the Simpsons and MIB ride. On our way we stumbled across teh characters from Madagascar who of course Keira really wanted to meet!!
The penguins were really good with her and huddled around her and kept moving from left to right so she could only walk with them and not get to Alex.
Nrext up the boys disappear to Simpsons ride leaving me and Keira outside. We both feel icky after this ride so we both always opt of it. Keira was watching a lizard in a tree for an eternity! I sat next to her on the beach drinking water as though it was going out of fashion!!
Men In Black was a hit as usual and as always we run round to go straight back on as soon as we finish. Its funny because my score always let the team down and Cameron always tells me maybe you will be better next time. After our 3rd go Cameron looked at my score and said " Mom I dont think you are ever going to be any good at this!!"
I thanked him for his support lol
Next up was Jaws and one we have done many times. This time however the skipper was really into his job and enthaustic about killing the shark!! Maybe a little too good as when we got off Keira was terrified and in floods of tears. To cheer her up we stopped for Ice creams and Funnel cake!!
It worked she was soon back to her smiling self.
Cameron declared he wanted to ride the mummy and I had to ride with him!! So off we headed so I could experience this ride for the first time!!
I loved it and we returned to the others watching Blues Brothers and as Kiera was strutting her stuff Wayne and Cam went back on!!
We then headed towards Shrek and we saw that for the first time ever Donkey was out!! We hot footed it down the road and stood in the shortest line ever.
Donkey was great and Keira was chuckling all through the conversation. At one point Donkey asked cameron what the matter was as he was very quite and Cam replied I feel a bit silly talking to a donkey!! This seemed to make Donkey talk all the more to him and then answer every reply with ARE YOU SURE?? when he asked Dan if he flew over on a dragon Dan said IM quite sure I never!! Even Donkey had to admit defeat and pose for a picture!!
After this we did the shrek show and then Keira threw the biggest strop ever she was screaming and shouting and just generally demonstrating enough was enough for today.
At this point of the holiday she was insisting that she didnt need a pushchair as she was not a baby and I could tell excitement,heat and tiredness was not making a good combination. Wayne headed off with Cam to ride Rip ride Rock it so to avoid any meltdown fro him whilst the rest of us sat on a bench watching Keira threw a strop and occasionally telling her when she was ready she could come sit with us.
She did calm down and sit with us eventually but literaly seconds later Cam and Wayne were back so we headed home.
As we sat in the car we realised that we still had not made it to the Terminator show!! I promised Wayne next time!!
We walk into the villa and the biggest storm ever started and it just kept going for hours and hours. As this ruled out pool time we went with a quick wander arond Downtown disney so the kids could visit Goofys Candy co and stop nagging about the promise of a piece of candy each.
It was not much fun in torrential rain so we literally got candy and headed home.
Dan and Keira were fas asleep in the car and the rest of us was not very far behind them.
