Just recently took our first disney cruise, only a 3 night. We started with 5 nights at WDW before the cruise. We had been looking forward to this vacation for a long time but turned out to be a bit disappointing. We set sail on Thursday, March 5 and all was well. :cool1: Friday morning we headed out to Nassau but by lunch time my son was not feeling well, at all. We went back to the ship and my husband spent the night in the room with our son while I took our daughter to the show and dinner. After dinner we went back to the room to find my husband extremely sick as well. My ds and dh missed the pirate party and the fireworks. Saturday we did get off the ship to spend the day at castaway but ds and dh still were not feeling great. Sunday we departed the ship and by Sunday night I was really sick. Sure didn't turn out to be the way we had hoped. I did see a couple of other people who were sick. One little boy on our way to the port got sick on the bus and another lady on the ship deck. My husband says he doesn't want to do another cruise and I can understand but I would like to give it another try. Our servers were excellent but I thought the food was just ok. My kids and husband didn't like the food much at all but then again they weren't feeling well.

Sorry to hear of your sickness! Perhaps, it was the touch of the flu!
Just before we went (march7-14/09) on Magic, I found out about oil of oregano (it's an awful worse than buckely's, and actually has a "hot" burning sensation, that is best to chase down with chocolate milk to subdue the taste), but it did the trick in keeping my swollen glands down, and not getting sick.
I also stocked up on Bonine (you can only get in over the counter in the US) Canada doesn't have it, I got some down there, just before we went on the boat, and it's for seasickness, so when I had someone in our party, feel a bit off, I made sure they took Bonine. There was only one in my party, that did miss the pirate party/fireworks, but it was because of heat stroke! Sometimes, you have to brush off those experiences of miss opportunites, and make the best, and not make it ruin the holiday.

So sorry to hear this happened to your family, no fun being sick while on vacation.

sorry your family wasn't feeling, well good you know you want to at least give it another try. Wait a while and then talk your DH into saying he was sick last time and to try one more time/

So sorry to hear that your family became ill while on vacation. I understand completely that your husband is less than enthusiastic about trying again, and cruising isn't for everyone, but it really is a great vacation. Hopefully you can try it again with better luck.

So soory your family got sick - being ill on vacation is no fun, particularly not on the cruise you were so looking forward to. I hope it doesn't put you off cruising again in the future.

Did you go to first aid on the ship? Did you get Trip Insurance? If yes to both you might be able to get your money back for the cruise. Hope everyone is feeling better.
