What would you do?

We're taking a cruise with my SIL and family, who have never been on a cruise let alone a Disney cruise. We were originally booked for Thanksgiving weekend this year, but given the restrictions, we decided to postpone (we'd be fine with it, but we didn't want that to be their first cruise experience!). We're currently looking at doing January over MLK Jr Weekend 2023 because the pricing is better, though I know we run the risk of not-great-swim-weather at Castaway Cay (our last cruise was in February 2019 and it was cold, windy, and rainy on our Castaway Cay day). At first, our plan was to do the Disney Wish, and I was definitely excited to take her on the new ship (we are sailing it in August of 2022), but then I noticed that the 4-night Disney Dream out of Miami for that same weekend is just about the same cost (only ~$200 more per stateroom) and is 4 days instead of 3! Given that they've never been on a Disney Cruise, and are unlikely to cruise again, we think this is the better option as the Dream is still an awesome ship and they'll have more time to enjoy the cruise for about the same cost.

Do people agree? Or is there enough new things on the Wish that it's better to do the newer ship, even if it's only 3 nights?

I would also choose the 4 nt. 3 seems too short to really enjoy it, especially for first timers AND on a brand new ship. Another thing to consider is crowds since many people will be on the Wish for the first time, with a holiday weekend, that it might be more crowded. With 3 days, you really won't get to experience a lot of what the Wish has to offer. Our first was a 4nt Dream and we are sailing her again next August, 5nt out of Miami. Looking back at our first cruise, I feel like there was so much we missed and we are excited to do new things on our upcoming trip.

Obviously I've never sailed on the WIsh, but imo from seeing the plans, the Dream seems like a better ship with better features than the Wish, anyway. And 4 nights is better than 3 nights if it works for your schedule.

Same situation here. Was planning on doing a 3 night on the Wish next October, but after going on the 3 night Dream this past weekend, I decided I would rather do 4 nights on the Dream next November for the simple reason of gaining one more night. Price is the same also. Perhaps in another year or two a 4 night on the Wish will be comparable to 4 nights on the Dream and we will do that. Go for the 4 night!

Glad to hear everyone agrees the 4-day is the better option. We went ahead and booked it, and I was excited to see that the 4Es on Deck 5 were available (including 5650 which is one of my favorite Dream staterooms), so it'll be awesome being right by the kids area for my niece/nephew and also having the huge verandahs!

I think it was the right choice for sure..we've done one 3 night cruise and I hope to not repeat it. Just too short, and everyone on board seemed stressed out trying to fit as much in as short a time as possible.

The Dream is wonderful. Can’t go wrong with 4 nights.
