Are they worth it? We really want to do a land/sea option for next Christmas. We are limited on funds (Trying to keep it under 4000K for 4A 1C, 1Infant) and we think we would get more bang for our buck if we went on the 3 night cruise and rented DVC points Sun-Thurs (points are cheaper).

However, i am torn if 3 nights 2 whole days is enough on a cruise. My family says they do not want to cruise more than 4 nights but then that would put us into the weekend at WDW and the prices would be higher for DVC rental along with a more expensive cruise. Personally I would like to skip WDW this year and just go on a 7 night Disney cruise but DH and DM are not too thrilled with that idea.

We are traveling with 2 small children and need the extra space at a DVC resort.

Please let me know what you think.

Most of my 39 cruises have been three nighters because it is the best way to maximize my vacation days. Thruthfully, it is not enough, but I say do it anyway! That's especially true if you are with reluctant people. It's how I won my husband over to cruising. A 3-day cruise is an excellent "sampler," and you will have a great time. The only part I have is that when we get to Castaway Cay, I know it's almost over, and it's hard to do things on the last night because you have to pack and put your luggage out (we usually just keep ours with us the next day so we don't have to).

I had once considered doing a land/sea/sea or a sea/land/sea back in the good old days when DCL was Premier cruise lines. That was before I had cruised and I was afraid I'd spend the entire cruise hanging over the rail. In the end I just did a 4-day sea/4-day land and had so much fun that I dragged my mom and neice on another land/sea/land six months later... Something similar...breaking up the sea with a short land portion at each end might make the individual family members happy if you can manage a couple of 3-day cruises....The packing and unpacking would be tricky but no one would feel "forced" to be adrift longer than they want...Once they cruise, however, they'll have a great time and not want to get off the boat... Do one day at Disney,(the arrival day) then a 4-day cruise, and another day at Disney, then a 3-day cruise. You'd be paying more for transfers and doing a LOT of back and forth, but.... What do I know? I travel solo and Cash doesn't get a vote, so if I want to shuttle to the port twice it's all an adventure to him....

If you have 1 week, and want to use DVC for a WDW stay, the 3 night works in MUCH better. You can go Sun-Wed to a DVC resort (when points are lower than on the weekend), and then go on the DCL from Thur-Sun. It makes for a VERY nice vacation.

Of course you will wish you had more time to relax on the cruise BUT you will get the BEST of the BEST on the 3 night. You get to see the 3 Disney Themed shows on the cruise (Hercules, Golden Mickeys and Dreams). You get to eat in each of the 3 restaurants, and you get to visit Castaway Cay. THOSE are the main hightlights of the cruise.

You don't have to get off the ship while in Nassau, you an stay onboard and enjoy all the ship has to offer that day. You will have a wonderful vacation.

The 3 night DCL fits very nicely with a WDW on points from DVC.
