Watching the show and I hafta ask....

What the heck was SJP thinking with that dress?? Her hair and make-up looked lovely, but she forgot 1/2 her costume!!!! U-G-L-Y!

I slept through the first hour, but I got to see Hugh Jackman....Yummy!

I had been looking forward to seeing Bernadette Peters do "Rose's Turn" from GYPSY, since I did the part of Mama Rose in late-Jan/eary Feb this year here in Florida.

I have to say I was disappointed. I really didn't think she did it justice.

And then, right after she finished, my phone rang, and it was my director calling to say that he just had to phone me to tell me that he wished Bernadette had seen my perfomance of Mama Rose (yeah, like THAT was ever going happen - LOL).

He was very complimentary and it really made my night. My director is 81 years old and he is such a sweetheart. He's been involved in theatre for so many years and he always goes the extra mile to let you know you've done a good job!

Hey Briar, just saw your thread. Read my thread--Just back from the Tony's. It was so much better than last year. At least no show like Urinetown (which I did get to see, it was ok). Did see Gypsy--did not like Bernadette Peters as Rose. Too angry in the role, does not show the depth of life experiences that Rose has, vocally, she was just not brassy enough. Did not like her at all. Tyne Daley was so good in the role. Anyway read my thread.

I haven't seen Gypsy yet, but I liked Bernadette last night. but I was glad Marissa won. I saw Hairspray twice. when I saw the show in previews last August I saw tonys all over the stage.
