My boys LOVE the arcade!! They spent alot of time in that one while we were waiting for our Chef Mickey's ADR.

Yes, there is a contingent of DISers who don't like escalators...but the little guy wanted to go on them every chance he could

I guess most of the resorts on the property have arcades. I'm not sure how this one would compare with the others. Your boys are definitely at the age to enjoy them!

Just stopping in. I see that I'm jumping in at the end of your TR, but I have really enjoyed reading it. The boys are SO cute and they seemed to handle some busy days really well. It's nice that your family had such a good time together.

Without any recent replies, it seems like my fellow TR travelers have gotten off this bus before the trip is over. So I may just be talkin’ to myself, but I just have to go off-topic a minute to report that DH gave me something for my birthday last week that I was hoping, hoping, hoping to see under the Christmas tree—the new Toy Story Mania for Wii!! Now to find time to play…!

What a nice DH you have. So how is the game? You you get to wear 3D glasses?

You are certainly more than welcome to stop by--and even stay a little while and chime in! Glad you've been enjoying the TR...as I was writing it, it was fun to re-live it! The boys were angels 99 percent of the time. I wish WDW had more "events" like character breakfasts geared toward boys--maybe the new plans for Fantasyland will help.

Our three generations get along well, and we always try to take a summer vacation together as a family--this one at WDW was my favorite so far!

He is nice! We are currently working on projects around the house, and I tell myself that when we make more headway, we'll reward ourselves by breaking out the new Wii TSM game! It better be before Christmas! I'll have to get back to you on the 3D glasses...

As much as we don’t want it to, Saturday morning (July 25th) comes. DD wants the boys to have more pool time before we leave, so they pack everything else besides swim stuff and the overnight hotel bag. I finish packing, and while DH is loading suitcases into the minivan, I see what other photos I might want to take before leaving. The CR’s 4th floor observation deck has reopened so I take this photo of the Magic Kingdom view:

After packing, DH takes this of the dock area of the lake:

Then he spots the younger four making their way into the pool area. Notice the spouting water in this pic (more on that shortly)…

All six of us meet back at the Contempo Café for breakfast. Weird that on our day to leave, it’s our first time to eat as a group in one of the CR restaurants (not counting Chef Mickey’s, of course). DD and DSIL still have two CS meals on their DP, so those plus breakfast pastry snacks feed us all. We still have lots of snack credits, so we have a take-out bag of goodies for the road. The chocolate croissants are to die for! Sorry, still no food photos!

While eating, DD and the boys have a magical story to share about their adventure this morning at the pool. Since DH and I weren’t there at the time, there are no photos, so you’ll need to picture it in your mind as I tell you what happened. (I was going to say “close your eyes and imagine…” but if you close your eyes, you can’t see to read! ) Here goes:


As the boys were walking toward the pool, a CM carrying a bag came up to them and said, “We’ve looked all over and we can’t find Mickey! He usually starts the magic here at the pool! Can you help?”

The boys agreed, so the CM took them to the curved jets of the water area. The CM gave DGS3 the Sorcerer cap with Mickey ears to put on – also a 3-finger white glove. He gave DGS8 a glove, too. Then he said to them, “Turn around three times” and they did. Next he said, “Put your hands stretched out in front of you, bend down and touch the cement, and then raise your hands up high.” So they did, and when they began raising their hands up high, the jets of water started!!

DD said that DGS3 was so excited! Next the CM took them to the center and had them do the three turns, stretch out their hands, touch down and raise their hands high again – and the water for the fountain began! He then led them to the water slide. After the three turns, stretching out of hands, and touching down, the water began as they raised their hands up high!

Once DGS3 saw that the water was working on the water slide, for him that phase of magic was so over! You may remember that he had only recently conquered his fear of the big water slide and desperately wanted to go on it! He wanted to be first this time! So he offered the Sorcerer cap and glove back to the CM and hurried to get on the slide.



So-o-o, after breakfast and loading the snacks into the minivan, we set off for points north – with our tummies full and a fresh new supply of Disney magic to warm our hearts until our next trip!


But—actually we go only an exit or two on Rt. 4, because DD wants to go to the Disney outlet store…I think it’s called Character Warehouse. DD’s friend (who comes every year and recommended Hoop-De-Doo Review) clued her into this store, and I notice it’s cited in the UG. The parking lot is jammed and we finally go to the garage in back. On the whole, I am disappointed with the amount of merchandise in this Disney store. Also, there are many items (T-shirts, journals, etc) with dates marked on them, and the dates are all 2008. But DD is able to find a couple shirts for the boys, and DGS8 does finally get a watch.

I send you all a big for reading and coming along on this journey. This first Trip Report was fun to do, but sad to end – could you tell? I have really been dragging my feet to post this last segment. If you have any comments or questions, please feel free to post them!

We had a wonderful time, and hopefully seeds were planted in the first-timers that will grow into many future visits!

Of the reports I've read here on the DIS, I hadn't seen the pool-opening type of magic mentioned, so it was really unexpected for me.

We really enjoyed ourselves and hope the boys will look back fondly on memories of their first trip. It has been great having you along for the TR ride! I know if my ride-loving DH and I have anything to say about it, we'll go back before too long.

Isn't the view of the castle incredible? After staying at the Contemporary, I am officially spoiled!

Hi again! That pool opening was such a treat for the boys! When they were at the Poly gift shop, DGS3 had already decided that the Sorcerer Mickey hat was his favorite--then he got to wear one while making magic

Sad, sad, sad --too true.

The pool magic really was special for the boys and it warmed my heart to have one final sprinkling of magic for them. No way did I want the Jedi thing to be what DGS8 remembers from this trip, ya know?
