What are some lodging options to consider for Disney properties or non disney properties? We are on a tight budget. Not opposed to spending a little more if there are huge savings in TIME.

- 3 or 4 day visit
- 2 Adults
- 1 son (14)
- August 2009
- No Car
- Dining options simple
- Pool not necessary (but ok if they have it)

- Last visit 1996
- Usually leave hotel by 9am and return after 10pm

- Transportation to parks important.

Thanks....

Just curious, can you spend more time away from work than just 4 days? I do believe the 4/3 deal is going through August 2009. That means if it is still available you can book a Disney resort for 4 nights and get 3 additional nights for free! I wish I could take advantage of such an offer, but alas! our working schedules do not permit travel when the offer is in effect.

The only non-Disney owned hotels that allow you to use Disney transportation are Disney Swan and Disney Dolphin (between Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios). In addition they allow you to make use of Extra Magic Hours at the parks. These hotels are owned by Westin and Sheraton respectively. They do have wonderful pool too. However, if you go go with that option, you can't add the dining option as they aren't Disney owned.

I think staying on Disney property at one of the budget resorts would be good for you. Seems like Pop Century is a favorite. Also, do you know that Disney is offering a buy 4 nights, get 3 free? It would be great if you could add a few days to your stay with no extra cost (except food). Hope you have fun!

This is an interesting thought. It's possible to stay a few more days. The only added cost would be entrance to the parks and food costs. How much would it cost for entry to the park for added days? Do they offer food programs that are reasonable?

^^^ Here are the details/date on the 4/3 deal: "Buy a 4-night/4-day package and get 3 nights FREE including Theme Park tickets! Package for most nights between 4/27 - 5/18, 5/23 - 6/6, and 6/22 - 8/15/09."

You can price your trip here: http://bookwdw.reservations.disney.go.com You can see what the price change is with and without the various park ticket options (hopper, non-expiry, etc), and with and without the dining plan.

Personally I think the dining plan is well worth it, but that's just me. I'm certain others can chime in with their opinions on the dining plan.

With the 4/7 deal there is not extra cost for the 3 added park ticket days. The Magical Express is also a bonus to you if staying on site because it's free transportation to & from the airport. Food is very expensive on property so you might want to look into a fridge swap (look on the budget board) or rental and then have a garden grocery delivery.

- Going last week in August and the 4/7 deal ends on 8/15 -- rats!

- How far away is Pop Century from Magic?

Keep your eyes on the codes and rates threads in the Disney Resort forum. They may extend the 4/7 deal or give you another great deal like free dining.

The Magical Express is a bus service from the Orlando airport to any Disney hotel. It is free with your stay.

what is the travel time from the Pop Century budget resort to Magic KingdoM?

I bet you can get in on a free dining deal in late August. With what you've described in terms of no rental car, wanting transportation, just the 3 of you...I think you will find a Disney on-site value resort will fit your family's budget perfectly. Don't make any reservations just yet, the free dining for August usually gets announed in April some time. Stay tuned to these boards (and watch the dining board!)...:thumbsup2
