Is it ridiculous for me to think about planning a 3 day trip? Asking here because obviously traveling from Canada, and day one and day three will be travel days. Arriving at MCO around 1pm on day one and leaving with ME at 3 pm on day 3.

I would not want to go for just 3 days and like you said 2 of the days you will be traveling. Is there a reason you want to go just for 3 days? We drive so it is either 12-14 days for us or it's not worth it. But even flying your paying a good price for tickets. I would save the money & time and put towards a trip when you can go longer.

I've done something similar. DS (age 6) and I flew down Friday afternoon (arrived around 5 pm) were there for the weekend and flew back Monday morning (ME picked us up at 5 am). I would have preferred to have a later trip back, but it was a last minute budget trip, so I didn't have much choice of flights. I would do it again in a heartbeat, assuming that the money was available and didn't take away from another trip.

I think it depends on what you want to get out of the trip. I was needing some 1:1 time with DS2 and the trip was cheap enough that it was well worth it for him to feel that he was special enough for mom to take him to Disney all by himself. If you're looking to have a relaxing vacation, I wouldn't recommend it. I came back exhausted.

Is there a reason you want to go just for 3 days?

We're doing adults only, and that's how long the grandparents will take the children for us.

We want to to wdw, but not sure if it makes sense given the time restriction. We'd probably only go to the parks for two of the days, we plan on relaxing at the resort for a good chunk of time.

That makes sense. Is there a time down the road that maybe they could take them longer? I just think 3 days is so short. You will just be winding down when you have to go back home. But if you really feel you need this trip then go for it.

We could go up north for the same amount of time (just a two hour drive) but dh really wanted to go somewhere warm. (Which would be the same amount of travel time regardless of where we go.)
And that's all the time we have unfortunately. Can't see it getting longer in the future. Perhaps the adults only trip will have to wait....

I'd go for it! I've never gone to WDW without kids but I imagine it would be easier to travel and move about. We spend a lot of time walking and stopping at bathrooms-you wouldn't do that with kids.
What I would do if it were my husband and me is go to Epcot on Day 1. We've always wanted to "drink around the world" and can't on our family trips. There's a lot of things in Epcot that we move through quickly with the kids. It would be nice to take our time there.
On day 2 we'd go first thing to HS to ride TSM and Star Wars-our favorites- then back to the resort for relaxing pool time and a nap. Then we'd go back to MK that night for late night rides and fireworks! If you're not huge Star Wars fans like us then skip the park hopper and go to MK in the a.m. and the p.m.
The 3rd day we'd probably have a nice breakfast then either relax at the pool or go to DTD to shop around and have a nice lunch.
You can get a lot in and relax a little too without kids.
Wow, now I want to go with just hubby for a long weekend!

OMG I would love to go without my DD. She will be going into High School next year and said she didn't want to go on our Dec trip (actually we were going to do DL this year in Oct). Part of me is excited if she doesn't go but then im sad as we have never been to DW without her. And we never did have a honeymoon. Oh the emotions im having of being childless.

I agree that you should go. I thought maybe it was far away but if it is only a few hours I would always be at Disney! We are 36 hours away Everyone thinks im obsessed, and I think they may be right. ;)

3 hour flight or 2 hour drive is about the same. I would do it if you don't mind spending all that money for airfare for a weekend getaway. Dh has done it in the past and said it was short and sweet LOL

Oh, yes. The joys of trying to make arrangements for an adult-only trip anywhere. My DH travels a fair bit for work and my schedule is quite flexible, so I'd join him for some of his conferences if it weren't for having to find childcare for the kids.

If you can afford it, I would certainly do it. An adult-only trip would be much less exhausting than one that involves kids. Sounds like fun to me!

If that's as long as the grandparents will give you, I'd still do it if the money was ok. A chance to go without kids would be fantastic! Even though it's a short trip, it won't be as hetic as it would with kids.

Are you able to snag an earlier arrival flight and later depature flight? That could make a huge difference.

If you don't feel you will get your money's worth (so-to-speak) for such a short time, have you considered another park? There's so much to choose from in Florida.

If you have not been to Universal Studios, what about it? I want to go there one day and read that many people consider it 2-3 day trip.

Been there. Done that. Substitute Las Vegas for Disney however. Exactly 49 hours on the ground in Vegas.

Last May long weekend we took our two girls down for a b-day trip (their b-days are 11 days apart at the end of May). Left Friday morning drove to Buffalo. Came back Monday. The Vegas trips we went down in the evening/night, spent two full days and came back on the red-eye.

I wouldn't with those flight times. You really only get 48 hours.

We have done it with a 6am flight (at WDW by 10) and come home on an 8 or 9pm flight (don't leave WDW until dinner time).

I would do it in a minute!!! From the time that you are without your kids, your vacation time with DH starts....doesn't matter how long, just that you get to do it.

I will tell you, back when the flights were 69.00 or less, my DH and I used to go just for one night. We would leave early morning, arrive by 9ish, stay at a deluxe (love the garden wing at CR), lay by the pool for the day or go to a park if we wanted. We would have a nice dinner (like california grill) and then the next day, have breakfast, pack up, lay by the pool for the day, change in the change rooms and head back to the airport for a late flight.

We used to do this instead of going to Toronto for the weekend. We figured out that by the time we went to Toronto, paid for our room (which would end up being the same price or close to CR), pay for parking and some kind of entertainment, dinner etc., that it didn't cost us much more if anything to go to Disney than heading to Toronto. Soooooooooo.....we would opt for sunshine and warm weather for sure!!!!

So, staying 2 nights in my books is even more well worth it! Just so nice to get away, and you only need to take a small carry on which works out great, you don't need to check luggage etc. :goodvibes
