I asked this in the family forum also but has anyone heard if this works.

Its called 3 day potty training by Lora Jensen.

Not really budget-related so I'm going to move this over to the Community Board for you.

My personal experience was that it took way longer than just 3 days and the children potty trained when they were ready.

I would be curious to know if it works myself. My soon to be 3 year old (nov) son isn't interested at all. Occassionaly I can get him to sit on the potty and that is about it.

I once had a co-worker who potty trained her daughter in 3-days.

Not related to the book at all (I don't think), more circumstantial, but here is her success story...

Remember back in 2003? 2004? When we had that Eastern Blackout? Well, her daughter was 3 at the time, and she was like, "Enough of this diaper stuff!" It was HOT and nobody could really go anywhere for three days, so she kept her daughter naked and mostly outside for those days without power.

First day, she peed on the floor in the living room and made the connection. No diaper = pee on floor and be embarassed. By the time the power was back up, diapers were done. It was like she forgot all about them since she didn't have them there to use.

I know there IS a naked method, but I think most people do it in the summer.

Good luck!

I had a friend who did something where you take their diaper off, feed them salty food and LOTS of liquid and sit them on the potty chair every 15 minutes. I'm not sure the exact details but was like a huge game and worked pretty well for her - for urine. You still have another issue!

::yes:: Yep, my co-worker did say that she loaded her DD down on her favorite juices. That way she had to go often. OH, and also, she said that with this method, you really have to watch them, because since they are naked and like to pee IN something (like a diaper) they try and sneak behind a chair or in a closet to pee in private.

my mom gave me a book to use w/ DD. It was called Potty Training in a Day or something like that. It was a combination of the two ideas already mentioned. Basically it was commit a day to giving lots of liquids and sans diapers and undies. I am sure there was more to it but I was fortuate and DD was just ready to do it on her own at 27 months. My mom said it was a great book and she had 5 kids so lots of experience!

I did it, but it was longer than three days, and my daughter was 2 years 5 months and after 7 days we were done, done and never went back to diapers except for nap time and bed time and they went away quickly thereafter.

We started on a long weekend and she walked around with no panties and the potty chair was in whatever room we were in and lots of snacks and drinks and she quickly got it. I chose to stay home for the 7 days so that I didn't have to use diapers to run errands, I didn't want to send mix messages.

It's probably a con, there's no way a kid could be potty trained that quickly. I'm familiar with these kind of schemes. Get rich quick my butt, getting my hopes up like that...:headache:

Now this is going to sound unbelievable but I swear it's true!
(I have 4 children) my second child is a girl. At 10 months of age- she used the potty on her own. It was in the bathroom for her older brother. She just used it before her bath. She was so proud of herself. The next day I decided to talk it up and see what happens. Well YEP she trained herself in 3 days! She was ready. She was dry waking up from naps at that point and I guess her body was telling her when she had to go. Funny thing was that I couldn't find underwear for her! She never made it out of a size 2 diaper. She saved me a bundle!

So I am the Potty whisperer in the family. But really I didn't do anything- she wanted to do it and she did!

And my boys all had varying times of training.

The good thing about girls is that it's easier if they are wearing dresses. Quick to go.

Good luck and she can do this! Once you start don't go back. NO PULLUPS! and it's about 3 days of hell then it starts getting better!

I was an unbeliever too, but it really did work for my DS!!!

I was at my wits end because my DS (4) still was not potty trained. Absolutely refused to do it. I was so embarrased by it. I tried every method, and nothing worked. A friend of mine bought the 3 Day Potty ebook and emailed it to me. I started Saturday morning, and by Sunday night, he was trained! :thumbsup2.

Nakey worked here in 3 days - heck, with one of my dd's, I took the diaper off, and never put one back on. I find this works great with kids 2 1/2 - 3. I did traditional with my two oldest, when they turned 3, and it took a while. If the kids are ready, they won't pee more than once or twice on the floor (but will pee in underwear, because it feels like a diaper to them).

Actually Potty Training in a Day has been around for close to 2 decades now. I used it with my 16year old. There's really nothing "schemey" about it. It just focuses on awareness of the difference between wet and dry pants and positive reinforcement.

for us a certain pair of cowboy underwear did the trick. my then 22 month old DS wanted them so bad but I explained that they were not diapers and that he couldn't pee or poop in them. He told me to get them and he promised that he wouldn't. Put them on that day and that was it.....used the potty and never had an accident day or night. :goodvibes I think the child is ready when they are ready.....

Something similar worked for my DS. He was just over 3 and I simply said...no more diapers.

We did the nakey bottom thing and he had on accident on the floor. Night and poop took a little longer but the rest was done in 2-3 days.

I really think kids train easily when they are ready. If they aren't ready, it can take months of bribes, charts, rewards, etc etc.

DD is nearing 2 and I'd like to train her but I'm not playing 6 months of potty training games. We'll start when she is a little over 2 and see what happens.

I didn't read the book, but I did train all four of my children over three day weekends. I have boy-girl-girl triplets and another boy. I decided to train the girls together and the boys together.

First, I waited until the girls were three. I started talking up how we were going to get big girl panties and no more diapers. I marked the day on the calendar. They knew it was coming up.

Saturday morning, I handed the boys off to dh and the girls and I proceeded to the bathroom with a timer, several books, and lots of water. We tossed the diapers and started drinking water. I gave them water until they could not drink anymore. Then we switched to milk, then juice (which was a treat because they never got juice) then finally to sprite by that afternoon. I gave them pretzels and apples (helps with #2) and celebrated each success with a potty dance, a small prize, a phone call to Granny/PawPaw, etc.

After each success, I set the timer for 20 minutes, gradually increasing the time between potty breaks. They returned to the potty when the timer dinged.

We did the same routine Sunday, and they were both pros by Monday. No accidents, no mess, no fuss.

I did the same thing with the boys except one son was just over 2 and the other was just over 3.

Worked like a charm!!! Good luck!

I trained my very resistant 4 year old (yes, I kept waiting until he was ready..guess what, he couldn't have cared less!) in 5 hours and my 3 year old in 2 hours. (now 11 and 9) I used this book, and I swear by it. It's called "Toilet Training In Less Than A Day".

http://www.amazon.com/Toilet-Training-Less-than-Day/dp/0671421735

The book is OLD (1970's) and was originally written to toilet train mentally challenged adults. Then they found it worked on kids, too.

I need to get these books! My DS is going to be 2.5 in another month and we haven't done much. He has a potty in the upstairs bathroom and he goes on it at night and before his tub but that's it.

We have been in transition moving from Florida to MA and now waiting to close on a house in NH. Once we get settled up there in November we will start to work on the potty training more. I'd love to get him out of diapers before the new baby but honestly I don't really care!! It's just getting heavy to lift him up to the changing pad.
