3 Day Parkhopper to AP to get a Magic Morning?

I am beyond excited: We are getting APs again!

We've just about always kept our APs going so I'm out of the loop with new purchases - can anyone please confirm that this is the best option, or help me out with a better plan?

We won't be staying onsite for our upcoming trip (2nd week in July). Would the best bet be to buy 3-day Parkhoppers, then upgrade to Deluxe APs on our last (or any) day? That way we get 1 Magic Morning. Would I get the $226/$215 (DD7) value toward our APs?

If DL still has the PITA photo taking at the gates I would rather upgrade to AP as soon as possible - do I need to wait until we use our Magic Morning though? Am I correctly reading the schedule: Magic Morning is only for Disneyland and it is not offered on Wed, July 9?

Would it be better to just start off with APs and forego the Magic Morning?

The general advice is to try and plan your trip so that the MM falls on the first day. That way, you can use the MM and then upgrade your AP on the first day. If you wait until the end of your trip to upgrade to the AP, you won't be able to take advantage of the AP benefits (e.g., discounts on food and merchandise, access to AP-only merchandise) until after you upgrade.

DL is doing photos for guests regardless of ticket media. If you purchase a 3-day ticket, you'll need to get your photo taken when you first use the ticket. After that, you won't need to take your photo again. If you purchase an AP, you'll need to find a Photopass photographer and get your photo taken so it can be linked to your AP. In the end, I don't know that it makes a really big difference. You still end up having your photo taken once.

Correct, on July 9th it looks like DCA has EMH. DL has EMH/MM on Tuesday (8th) and Thursday (10th).

In terms of the MM, it depends on whether you would get there for it and what rides you want to do. Only Tomorrowland and Fantasyland are open (I think), so if you had rides in those areas that you wanted to do, then it might be worth it. One option is to hold off on any shopping you might do until after you upgrade. You'd lose out on any meal discounts, but that cannot be helped. Maybe if you avoided pricey meals (e.g., table service) until after you upgraded, that might help with the planning.

Thank you very much! I think we'll just start with APs. Since they are still taking photos in line I know that I'll be one of the lucky ones whose photo falls out of the system and I'll lose my temper...can't have that at the Happiest Place On Earth!
Great point about the discounts; I had not thought about that as I'm so used to getting 10% off everything!
Since we can't get there on our first morning in time for Magic Morning it seems not to be worth the trouble. 8am-12am is more time than we need! :goodvibes

I believe you are correct that MM is not offered on wednesday. Im dont always use my MM but I might this time because Im going at such a busy time of year...I might be using early entry since I am staying on site for a few days as well :cool1:

as for upgrading, ill let you know my plan. I plan on purchasing a ticket from orbitz for 265-its a 3 day with the 4th free. then Im going to upgrade it at the park to a 5 day. I am going to use this ticket and on the 5th day Im going to upgrade to the deluxe AP on the last day. I am going to wait to upgrade fully until the last day because if I buy the AP first, then it has black out days for some of the days I will be there. The future trips I have planned dont have the black out dates so I wont have to worry about that later.

by the way, have fun! I will be there from the 1st-11th...celebrating my anniversary.pixiedust:
