I was planning on booking a Disneyland resort hotel separately (not a package), so now I am trying to decide if I should buy park hopper tickets online. I was cautioned about this, since you have to 'prepay' and if you have to cancel your trip for any reason, you're out of luck (in our case, it's $700 for the 4 of us). I am not convinced the discount is significant enough in comparison to the main entrance price to be worthy of a pre-purchase...

Can you buy these passes online the day before/day your flight leaves and then pick them up at the resort (like will call)? I am trying to figure out a way to save money, but still minimize monetary risk without having to buy any cancellation insurance.

My days of booking a vacation at a travel agent are long over, but I could see there being a benefit to booking disneyland resort packages at a travel agent.

Just wondering how everyone else buys their passes...?

I bought mine on Expedia- you just print off a voucher that you exchange at the ticket booth or Disney hotel, so you could do it right before you leave. Don't know about other websites but I'm sure they would be similar.

I bought mine yesturday at our local aaa office, youhave to be a member but you get free parking at the park. We are leaving Thursday

The online passes you can buy the night before, yes. Then you just print out your voucher (I have done this in the hotel lobby of the BWPPI when we had an additional friend come at the last minute), and take it to the gate the next morning and it turns into a regular ticket. So you get the best of both worlds - online discount _and_ save your money til the last minute. We usually don't since I like to have things pre-budgeted, money out of the account, then upgrade to AP's for us, but it is do-able. :)

The tickets are also good for a set amount of time beyond your travel dates. For example, the ones on sale now are good through April something. So if you're planning on going in feb, something happens, but you know you could go in march instead if it did, you'd be fine. But you can buy them night before, so if you're really worried do that.

Thanks for the responses! I'll buy my hopper passes at the last minute before we leave. That makes me feel better. I prefer planning vacations with TONS of planning and as little pre-purchases as possible! This time our only advance financial commitment was taxes for our flights (frequent flyer tickets) and my Ridemax purchase (for my extensive planning, of course!).:wizard:

Were you able to get the 3 day park hopper for 169.00 deal at AAA?

Totally missed this was an older thread! :hippie:

I was thinking that this was the special 199 deal.
