My family (4 adults 3 kids (7,5,I)) will be in WDW 5/6-12 and I have 3 character meals booked.

Akershus Royal Banquet Hall *breakfast
Tusker House Restaurant * lunch
1900 Park Fare *dinner

In that order 3 days in a row.

Will we be character meal-ed out? Or have I picked different enough locations that it will be just magical no matter what? :wizard:

Honesty please!!

I think with your kids being at the ages they are it sounds like you made a good choice. They'll get to meet lots of characters during the meals, which means you won't have to wait in long lines to meet the characters in the parks as much.

I don't think so - I think you have a nice mix of characters/locations. However, take it with a grain of salt, because I may be a bit character-meal biased! :goodvibes

My daughters are 7 & 4, and for our upcoming April trip we have:
CRT - breakfast
Tusker House - breakfast
Crystal Palace - breakfast
Garden Grill - dinner

For our trip last May, we also had several character meals: Crystal Palace (dinner), Akershus (breakfast), Tusker House (breakfast), 1900 Park Fare (dinner), Cape May (breakfast).

The girls loved the "get-your-own-food" restaurants, and we liked being able to see a lot of characters without lines! As they get older, I'm sure the novelty will wear off, but right now, it's all about the characters for us!!

Have fun!

p.s. 1900 Park Fare was great -- definitely our top in terms of character interaction/banter!

I don't think so considering your kids age. We have 5 yo girls and we have a character meal every day of our trip.

No, I don't. Before you blink, your kids will be teen/tweens and want no part of character dining. Enjoy it now while they are little and it's "magical". :wizard:

I agree, we're going to 4 character meals. It's my DD's MAW trip, so we probably wouldn't be able to afford so many if we were paying for the trip. And my DD is 6 and DS will turn 4 the day we go to the MK. We did Chef Mickey's before and my DD still talks about it, that was 2 years ago.

Crystal Palace- Breakfast
Cinderella's Royal Table-Lunch
Hollywood & Vine-Breakfast
Tusker House-Breakfast

Can there ever be to many character ADRs?? I'm sure the kids will love them :)

We are taking our kids in Oct for a short trip and hoping for bkfst at CM.

In Dec we are going for a week and hoping for...
Bkfst - H&V
Bkfst - CP
Dinner - 1900 PF
Bkfst - Cape May
Lunch - Tusker House
Bkfst - CRT
Bkfst - Akershus
Dinner - Garden Grill
Bkfst - Tusker House

9 character meals, plus 11 other TS meals. Gotta love DxDP

My kids could eat all character meals. They are great for the younger age group in the fact that they have the food already to go. It is a bit of a pain having to go up and get it but compared to having to keep your children quiet and still waiting for 30 minutes for you meal at Le Cellier it is a much more pleasant option.
I do love O'hana's for breakfast and Garden Grill as they have the characters and they are served family style so you don't have to keep running to the buffet.

Our first trip we did 5 character meals, and only the last one felt like too many. It was the breakfast at AK which had the Fab 4, whom we had already seen at Chef Mickey's and in the parks. We definitely could have done without that breakfast.

Your line-up looks like a great variety, both of food and character...not overkill at all.

I don't think that's too many. I'm sure your kids (and you!) will love it! We're doing 3 on our upcoming trip as well, and we would've done more if we could... and we're 2 adults with no children.

thanks so much for the feedback! It looks like breakfast is popular at Tusker House. I am an over planner so I want them to have the most well rounded experience. I am sure they will LOVE no matter what we do. They have never been to WDW so they know no different!

I agree! We're taking my 3 y/o GS down there for his first ever trip in just a little over a week (Feb 4th-11th). My husband and I have been many times, but my eldest son and D-I-L are not Disney lovers and refuse to take him (oh where did I go wrong!:rolleyes1:sad1::rotfl:) This is going to be a very slow paced trip and we'll only be doing things he'll be interested in. We plan on using the meals as a way to make us slow down. Even though I have the TiW card, for this trip we too are on the DxDDP.

We have:
1900 Park Fare (dinner and breakfast)
Hollywood and Vine (breakfast)'
Chef Mickey's (breakfast and dinner)
Cape May (breakfast)
Crystal Palace (dinner---also have a lunch on our last day that we may not make)
Garden Grill (dinner)
Ohana (breakfast)
Tusker House (breakfast)

In addition to the character meals we have:
Coral Reef
Yak & Yeti
T Rex
Le Cellier
Ohana dinner
Cape May dinner
Paradiso 37
Sci Fi
Planet Hollywood
Tony's

So 10 character meals (11 if we keep Crystal Palace lunch on our last day) and 10 noncharacter meals)

I don't think it is too much either.. We have 4 booked 4 days in a row..I booked all breakfast because I didn't want to be planning my day around afternoon/evening reservations

I don't think it is too much. We do lots of character meals. For our upcoming trip, here are our reservations:

breakfasts:

1900 Park Fare
Cape May
Crystal Palace
H&V
Chef Mickey's
Cinderella
Tusker House
O'hana

Lunch at Crystal Palace

Dinner at 1900 Park Fare and Garden Grill

My youngest will be almost 5 for our late April/early May trip. He loves character meals. My 13 year old loves character meals. It's a fun part of WDW for us.

Another vote for character meals. We love them. We always do one each morning and sometimes one in the evening also. Love being able to see the characters without standing in line.

I definitely don't think that is too many, we did a character meal each day on our recent trip with a 2, 4, and 6 year old. I do recommend getting your 1 year old near some characters locally before your trip to see how she reacts. My 2 year old daughter saw Dora & Elmo at a pumpkin patch during Halloween, so I knew she was going to be excited to see characters in Disney. If she reacted more apprehensively, I would have scaled back a bit on the character meals.

Character meals are fun. not a substitue for meets though as I much prefer pics with a nice background...so doesn;t save us time in lines as I still go to the meets Character meals are fun for the experience though :)

I thought we were done character meals but our next trip we are planning 1900 Park Fare because everyone says the stepsisters are a hoot. I already know the food is mediocre, and that's fine. We're also planning on Garden Grill..don't care a whole lot about the characters - but my kids are fascinated by the revolving restaurant idea and I know when i was younger, I was too. So something to do simply for the cool factor (I wanted Coral Reef for a chance at better food) but oh well, the things we do for our kids :)

I agree. Character meals are great. When my kids were younger than 10, on a 8 day vacation, we went to CP breakfast (nice) O'hana breakfast (nice) Tusker House breakfast (nice) CM dinner (only nice for the number of characters, but absolutely horrible food - even my kids never want to go there again) Garden Grill dinner (nice)
