3 and a half weeks to go!!!!! Restaurant reviews?

If you go via Eurostar then Mickey comes over the tanoy saying "its not long til we're in the magic" just as we are about to go aboard. Generally all the kids are running around with excitement at this point and DH says that its not just the little kids that get excited; this "big kid" gets excited too at hearing Mickey's voice!:rotfl2:

Does this just happen certain days etc? As I've been twice by direct Eurostar and have never heard this ? X

I don't think it is certain days - we went June 2012 and Mickey came over the tanoy at Ebbsfleet where we departed from. Altho I believe they now don't give out the kids Disney packs at the Station; so maybe they've stopped doing Mickey over the tanoy too???

Ooh - just seen your staying at the Dream Castle! We're staying there in September - our first offsite hotel.

We are staying on site at The Newport Bay Hotel.

If you have a wake up call in the morning is it always a Disney characters voice?

Ooh wow! I stayed there about 10 years ago; altho don't remember too much about it. DH and I visited that hotel a couple of years' back and the staircase that leads down to the restaurants and breakfast area always reminds me of the staircase on the film of Titanic.

I've not done it for about 6 years (usually because we are shattered having burnt the candles at both ends at DLP and we usually hit "snooze" on our alarm clock!:rotfl:) but as far as I'm aware it is always a Disney character.

We've stayed in Santa fe and Cheyenne before so really excited about staying in Newport Bay!!

We want to try and get an early breakfast slot (7am) so we can make the most of the EMH, a wake up call from one of the characters would make everyone's morning :)

We've stayed at Santa Fe and Cheyenne too; so would love to hear what you think of the Newport Bay in comparison.

You should be able to get an early breakfast slot if you check in straight away; or if your not able to get the slot you want you could enquire about having breakfast in the Park (never done this myself so not sure whether you still can) or you could always get a late breakfast and have breakfast after EMH

One of my friend's who took her grandchildren made sure that they set their own alarm clock and were up 10 minutes before the call from the characters; so she had time to grab a camera and take a photo of their faces as they realised who was on the phone!pixiedust:

I will let you know what Newport Bay is like, very excited about staying there :)

Setting an alarm sounds like a very good idea I'd love to get pictures of there faces!!

I have read that even if you get a later breakfast time slot you can still go at 7am my youngest likes to wake up between 5-6am zzzzz so is usually hungry by 7!!

It's a lovely walk by the lake via the Disney Village in the morning - we're staying off site for the first time and the one thing I'm going to miss is that walk thru the Village and watching it spring to life.

Yes we didn't bother with breakfast last year when we stayed at the Santa Fe; we got up late and just had my birthday cake for my breakfast!:rotfl: But the year before we stayed at the Cheyenne and there was one queue for those arriving at the time they had reserved; and another queue for those arriving outside their time. Both queues seem to be moving fairly fast and as far as I'm aware its the same with all the on-site Hotels.:goodvibes

Not long to go now!!!:cheer2:

Hubby and I are very much two big kids! lol! It's the thing I love about DLP so much - we leave reality as we board the Eurostar and are two big kids running after Mickey! lol! I always remember a lady coming up to me in one of the giftshops at DLP asking "how many kids I had" - I replied "just me"!!!

I always say to hubby that I don't really believe I'm going to DLP til I stand on Main Street. Hubby says I always say that and he doesn't get why its not real til you are there; but sounds like I'm in good company!:goodvibes

I never sleep the night before either. There was a DLP advert a while back where the parents went to bed and one of the adults said they were "too excited to sleep". That's definitely me!!:rotfl2:

I have 3 boys but I think I get more excited about it all!!

I was showing my 2 year old videos on YouTube of the DLP castle ( he can't tell his brothers where we are going as he is only 2 lol)
The video actually made me want to cry with excitement!!

I think I am a child when it comes to anything disney :) I cried before I even got on the ferry to magic kingdom at WDW!!

I always want to cry as I leave Main Street for the last time - its like when I was little and your parents would drag you kicking and screaming to leave your favourite place!

Me too! Spending my birthday with Mickey was just the best thing ever and when he brought me my cake I reverted to being about 5 years old and got all excited! The cake was yummy too!

This time tomorrow you will be in the magic!!!!pixiedust::banana:
