Just back from our 8 day trip and thought I'd leave my reviews for anyone who is having trouble deciding. I won't be lenghty and specific as I really don't remember what everyone had at every meal, but the overall impressions... We were pleased with just about every location and would do them all again..
Day 1
ASMU Food Court- yummy food, great variety, good way to learn the dining plan ropes..
Crystal Palace dinner- Character interaction was great, food was flavorful and fresh.. especially liked the cornbread...
Day 2
Pecos Bill- Burgers were a hit as was the taco salad... Fixins bar was huge and allowed you to add lots of options. atmosphere was great..
Boma- MY FAVORITE MEAL... everything here was so flavorful, yummy, absolutely excellent! DH had a bad night here...spilled his food on his lap... I barely looked up from my plate..I think all I said the whole meal was MMMM..
Day 3
Sunshine Seasons- Great variety...fresh food...lots of dessert choices..
Coral Reef- (ok..this review might be a little more in depth..) We arrived extra early will all intentions to request a table by the tanks and were more than willing to wait... I informed the hostess of my wishes and she gave us our buzzer... 10 minutes later we were seated...but not on the bottom level.. 2nd level, not really by the tanks.. and I'm just not one to speak up or complain, so I accepted the table..the restaurant wasn't even that busy, but again, I don't like to make waves... Our server was probably the biggest disappointment here... she just didn't have that same Disney spirit as the rest of every cast member we encountered on our whole trip. Very to the point, almost miserable.. didn't explain that the kids could not get a dessert if they ordered the complete meal, so we had to buy them a dessert OOP. Food itself was very good...even my picky hubby enjoyed it. The server was the bad part, but I don't let it reflect on the restaurant itself... I observed many other servers doing a fine job... maybe ours was just having a bad night... she didn't get the recommended tip because of it... We would definitally go back again..
Day 4
Backlot Express- Adequate variety, good food...nice service and not crowded.
50's Prime- Fun atmosphere...hubby's favorite food..he likes American Home cooking... Brownie sundae was huge and yummy...DD loved the smore's..
Day 5
Lottawatta Lodge- Again, good food, buckets for the kids...able to save receipt for later for desserts...
Chef Mickey's- Fun..Fun..Fun.. Great food, good variety, kids loved sundae bar...I loved key lime tarts!
Day 6
Tusker House Breakfast- For some reason this ADR didn't show up in the system but they had no problem fitting us in... great open market feel. lots of breakfast items that were yummy.. characters were great and server was very nice.
Wolfgang Puck Express- My Favorite CS... Didn't feel like a CS at all. Food was so good...I couldn't finish half of my chicken sandwich and was sad that I never was hungry enough to have it for a leftover... Key lime pie was great too! Well worth the trip to DTD
Day 7
Liberty Inn- World Showcase CS... Great american fare... nice bright dining area.. helpful service and good food..
Garden Grille- Great Character Interaction! We saw every character twice! Food was great and plentiful.. All you had to do was ask for more of whatever you liked.. Would have preferred more than one Dessert option, but Blueberry Buckle was good also. The kids loved the scenery as the dining room rotated... nice way to end our vacation!
One or two things about the DDP... Most of the time we were so full from the meal that we took desserts with us at CS... Kids had limited selection at most places and my DD was getting a little frustrated, but I just shared with her when she wanted something different. There was more than enough food with me just bringing light breakfast items... I thought that our eating schedule was very conveneint as we were able to skip most crowds... Lunch was around 11am, ADR's were all for 5pm or earlier... we then used snack credits if we needed something late in the evening... or we used the snack credits for fruit or breakfast pastries in the am... My favorite snacks were Goofy Candy Co. make your own... school bread...and muffins at ASMu...
Most CS meals ranged between $55-$65 (3adults, 2 children)... and most TS meals were between $120 and $140... I spent exactly what I thought I'd spend in tips ($140)... I'm estimating that we saved about $300 using the DDP... although we definitally would not have bought so many desserts... it was worth it jjust to have the freedom to order what we wanted and not have to worry about prices...
We enjoyed our trip tremendously... sad that it went by so quickly.. We would definitally do the DDP again and were pleased with all of the dining options that were offered.. There is no place like Disney World!
