3/21/2010 -- 4 Night Disney Wonder Spring Break Cruise

Welcome back everyone! FYI - I have a trip report posted and would love to have your feedback! I hope everyone had as good a trip as we did!

Anyone else going through the Disney Depression? Good news is that my in-laws want to take a family cruise. Bad news...it won't be until 2012.

And, is anyone else feeling like they brought some creatures home with them from Castaway Cay? My legs are very itchy, and it started on our day at sea.

DS also got sick in Parrot Cay on Tuesday. So, I apologize if anyone was in the dining room with us and had to see it. He just had too much sand, sun, and fun on CC. We all ended up going to bed at 8:30. Yes, we missed the pirate party. I told DH that we HAD to go back just for that!

Very much so! We were so disappointed in the 4-night cruise because it was so short and there were so many little kids on the ship. Yes, I know we signed up for it but we didn't realize how very short and kid-packed it would be compared to the seven night cruises we have taken before. For those of you that this was your first cruise, don't let the number of small children on the ship discourage you from booking another trip. This was our fourth cruise and we have never seen so many little ones before. I guess that's what 'Kids cruise free' does to the ship. So not worth the savings for us.

There were so many things we didn't have time to do and so many things we missed from before that weren't offered on the ship simply because of the number of days we were on the ship. Bummer for us! I don't think we will EVER book anything shorter than a seven night cruise again. In fact, we just cancelled our 5-night next May on the Dream because it's just too short of a time to really enjoy the trip. We are going to wait until the next year and go on a 7-night cruise, maybe on the Fantasy.

Other than that, it was nice to be back on the ship and have the 'ship feel and smell' back. There is just something about the smell of the ship when you first step on it that is magical. Call me crazy! :rolleyes1

I hope some of you share your photos with all of us. I am sure Christopher will do that when he gets a moment.:rolleyes1

June (or anyone that has cruised before), the first night, was the movement on the ship normal or were we really rocking because of the storm? I have to tell ya, the first night we all got a little queasy and had 2nd thoughts about cruising. Thankfully, it got much better!!!

Would anyone like to see my favorite pics from the cruise? :)

We definitely felt the boat rocking that night! But, I took the Walmart Brand motion sickness meds and we didn't feel queasy at all.

I didn't mind the kids. I felt like we had enough grown up time and family time. I was glad there were enough little ones for my little ones to play with (8 and 6).

I am 99% sure we're going on the Dream next March. I just have to come up with the $ before Jan. 4!

This was our third cruise out of Port Canaveral and yes, the first night was like that each time. I've heard other DISers refer to the current by name, but I can't think of it right now. It hasn't affected our kids or me, but June and my Mom were affected greatly. My niece was affected this past trip by it too. You could feel it a little the last night too as we headed back to Port Canaveral.

Yes, we would love to see some pictures! BTW -- how was Port Orleans Reverside? We enjoyed our very quick stay. I would have enjoyed walking around some to enjoy the resort, but four of the five of us were recovering from bronchitis or strep and were still weak. We did get a boat ride to DTD and the kids spent some time at the POFQ pool.

We were also booked on the Dream for next year, but decided not to for our family cruise. We're going to wait for the Fantasy to take another 7-night cruise. We really enjoy the longer cruises -- two formal nights, a character breakfast, mid-night dessert buffets, more shows, different dinner menus, more sea days, more ports of call and best of all - more time for relaxing!! You really double your time over a 4-night cruise (6 full days as compared to 3 full days).

That said, I think we're going to go on another 4-night cruise sans kids for our 20th Anniversary this fall. We'll be going in September which is generally the least expensive time to cruise. Yes, it's hurricane season but we've cruised 3 times during that timeframe and have had great luck. Even if the cruise gets diverted, that's okay as long as we're on the ship.

With respect to kids, we're used to lots of kids onboard Disney, but just not the number we saw this time. We've cruise in late September twice so there were fewer kids as school was in session. We also did the Panama Canal cruise and there were lots of kids, but they were mostly older kids. When we saw the Mickey pool on sea day, our jaws literally dropped and I had to get a picture of it as we had never seen it so full:

We rebooked. Originally rebooked for 2011, but decided to celebrate our 20th Anniversary sans kids on a 4-night Wonder cruise this coming September. We'll rebook again onboard for a 2012 Fantasy Cruise with the whole family
