We live in the Southeast corner of the state, off of 74, about 35 minutes from Cincinnati. How old are your girls? My boys are sooo excited about their first cruise.

Christopher, thanks for creating the list. Ages of my boys are 16, 11 and 8. I am interested in FE exchange if you want to include that also :goodvibes

I updated your boys ages. Since there aren't that many of us, I'll just asterisk everyone who is interested in participating in the fish extender. We'll need room numbers for that which I can gather in early March once Disney assigns room numbers to everyone with Guaranty Status.

Also, if anyone is interested in staying at Disney before or after the cruise, they are having a room-only rate special right now. I think you can save between 25% and 45% depending on room type. We were able to get a room at POR for $147 per night for 5 of us. Not bad for Disney during the heart of Spring Break. We're just doing one-way car rentals to get to the port and this will give us some time at WDW before the cruise even though we're not visiting any of the major parks.

We are so excited! This is our first disney cruise and first "big vacation" (flights) for our girls (5 and 3). We are a cat 5 . I have had friends rave about their Disney cruises for years that as soon as my 3 yr old potty trained I booked! (have to take advantage of the kids club!)

We're getting in the day before and staying at the Radisson...can't wait.

:welcome: to the thread and to the DIS! Congrats on the first big vacation for the girls.

Where in Missouri are you? I grew up in a small town in the middle of Missouri before moving to KC and am now in Denver.

I'll add you to the first post. If you have any corrections after I post it, just let me know.

We live in Columbia. We are originally from Ohio and have been in Columbia for 2.5yrs. We love it here.

I just booked Palo last night for dinner and brunch! Not sure if we'll do both, but I figure I can cancel as the date gets closer.

We want to do the beer/wine tasting also, but not sure where you sign up for those. Might be a "once your on board" sign-up?

I've seen the FE pictures...what is the story behind them and what do you do with them?

I need to find a countdown ticker...I'm so excited! :yay:

Just a friendly reminder that Palo, spa and excursion reservations are available on the website to be booked as of today!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope everyone gets what they want! We did!!!

Palo brunch on sea day at 10am
Well being massage for Couples on sea day
Parasailing on Castaway Cay at 10am (might cancel)
Blackbeards Cay Stingray in Nassau (Wasn't even looking at this until today--I wanted dolphins but decided it was too much money.)

:welcome: I see from your signature that you're from KC. I grew up and lived around KC most of my life. We've recently relocated to Denver to be closer to my DW's family. I'm still a huge Chiefs fan, despite their recent down years.

I can't answer your question about Nassau. This is our fourth DCL cruise (29 nights), but our first cruise on the Wonder. We haven't decided whether or not to try Atlantis, or to do a snorkeling excursion. This will be the first cruise for my nieces and they want to snorkel. Yes, they can do it at Castaway Cay, but I didn't care for the snorkeling at CC as compared to other ports in the past. Personally, with only four days, I'd prefer to just stay on the ship.

I see that someone else has responded, but here's a picture of our fish extender from the last cruise. It was a lot of fun for everyone to participate. I'm not sure how many would participate in a FE exchange as their aren't many on this thread right now.

MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone! Just three more months until Spring Break!!
Hi - yes the Chiefs tough to take right now but we still remember all those great years...hoping they make a come back soon! The games are still a blast but not like they used to be... : (

DH and I grew up in MO - small towns. We've been in KC for 15 years or so and love it...really a nice city and great place for a family.

Nassau has been on my mind - we are tempted to go to Atlantis but Yikes! It is really expensive! Is it worth it? We've always wanted to go so maybe this is our chance to experience it and decide if we would really want to spend the money to vacation there sometime??? Or maybe we should go snorkeling? Just wondered what others are thinking...

Thanks for posting the list of kids...it's helpful!

Wow, I can't tell you how close we came to moving to Columbia recently. We would have been neighbors before the cruise!

We really like Palo for dinner vs brunch, but I think we're in the minority. Brunch is very nice, but it seems to take away so much time from your precious single at-sea day. My favorite dessert on the ship is at Palo -- Panna Cotta. It also has an excellent Souffle. Generally, I get one of each!!! The brunch is great because of the views during the daylight hours.

We celebrated a recent anniversary on-board at Palo:

Yes, if available, you can sign up for the wine and beer tastings on board at guest services.

Fish extenders are used for gift exchanges. Generally, some of those on the meet threads on the DIS will sign-up to participate. A list of cabin numbers and names will be distributed ahead of time. While on board, you can leave gifts for your fellow DISers in their fish extender. These are usually small inexpensive gifts and can be anything from candy, trinkets, magnets or something unique from your hometown. There are threads on the main page on gift ideas, as well as ideas on how to make (or buy) a fish extender. On our 15-night cruise, it was always fun to come back to the room and see what new gift you might have. We had over 120 cabins participating, but I think that's unusually high. We gave out customized pens that we had made for the cruise.

Don't freeze too much this week. I hear it's quite cold in Missouri this week!

Isn't today final payment day too? We paid a week or so ago. I tried to get a table for 5 for Palo, but no luck. I'll have to try onboard.

Don't cancel the parasailing-- one of the best excursions I've ever done!! Very peaceful. I seem to have a picture for everything. This is my dad on our parasailing excursion:

Great Broncos game this weekend though!! My DW didn't think so as she's a Broncos fan. At least I don't feel too bad as the Broncos wouldn't have made the playoffs even if they had beat the Chiefs.

I grew up in Sweet Springs, MO. Small town between Columbia and KC.

We were tempted to do Nassau, but you're right, it's very expensive even just to do the beach. I heard you can tour the aquarium for free though. I'm a little nervous about venturing out too much in Nassau after the discussions on the main thread about the Disney cruise excursion being held up at gunpoint (the Segwey excursion) in November. If we do anything at Nassau, it will be just to visit Atlantis.

We're snorkeling at CC. Here's a few pictures (again):

It was fun, even with a little rain (that quickly went away):

There is better snorkeling elsewhere, but it's a nice quick diversion for CC.

We'd love to do the fish extender - please add the * by our name! : ) A little more info on the FE would be helpful...

We are staying at the Residence Inn in Cape Canaveral the night before the cruise, renting a car one way to get from the airport and back.

OK, I'll try this again: 5CruisersCruising - Me, DH and our kids - DS 11, DD 8 and DD 5 - so excited for our 1st cruise!

I've updated your information on the first post and no problem with posting the list of kids ages.

Hi All!

Booked our excursion today...yipeee!

Also booked the Palo brunch. Is it a champagne brunch? How does tipping work with Palo? Do you leave a tip at that time?

Chris...or whomever is updating the list. We also have our 19 year old daughter coming now, as her other trip got canceled. Thus, I had to get two rooms...!!!! Gotta love those kiddos! Now the 18 year old son that cannot come is not happy to be the only one not able to come with....

5CruisersCruising: We are going the be on the early am SW flight out of KC. What about you guys?

Transportation to and from is REALLY pricey. We are doing a private town car for $80 to the Radisson and then taking their shuttle to port. We are doing a day at a disney resort the day we get back and then head back to Missouri on Friday. I WANTED to squeeze in a day at the park, but I think that is really pushing it and ruining the relaxing part of our cruise and replacing it with the craziness of doing only one day at the park.

We'll just have to go back!

We are seriously thinking about skipping Nassau. If we do go, it will be a quick...yeah we were there... and then get on the boat.

KSDisneyDad: Columbia is so wonderful...it is perfect for us. Funny how you could have been a neighbor!

Thanks for sharing your parasailing experience. I had noooo idea what time to book it for. What time is good/recommended? (assuming I can change it to a different time)

I would love to do Atlantis but that really puts my budget over the edge so I had to go for something cheaper. I keep telling myself "maybe next time"!

:)

Mommyofthreeboys...
Hi! I am also mom to three boys..*wink*
We have the same brunch booked! Do you know any of the brunch details? Is the champagne included? I was also wondering how tipping works for Palo?
Almost cruise time!!!

Isn't today final payment day too? We paid a week or so ago. I tried to get a table for 5 for Palo, but no luck. I'll have to try onboard.

Question on the parasailing - My DS (11) and DD (8) want to do it. Will I be allowed to go along with them? Or do I need to book myself a spot?
