Here's my short and sweet trip report!
Cast -
Jennifer, 29
Adam, 30
Cassandra - 5
We made plans for the 3/2 Wonder 4 day cruise just 5 days before sailing. nothing like last minute! Rates are much higher at last minute, but that's what you get for waiting, lol.
Flew down from Baltimore to Orlando on 3/1. Our Tiffany Town Car driver met us there and took us to the Radisson. Radisson is a great hotel, I thought and very close to the port. Next morning we had the Radisson shuttle take us to the ship! I was so excited! This was our first Disney cruise, but 4th cruise total. We've sailed on Princess (like it) and Royal Caribbean (love it) before.
Our embarkation was very smooth, despite the fact that we never got our cruise documents (booked too close to sailing). No problems at all and we were on board around 12:15. Enjoyed the buffet at Parrot Cay. Then we checked out our stateroom, category 5, deck 7, midship near the elevators. Nice room. Smaller than the mini suite that I like on the Princess ship, but great for the 3 of us. No complaints!
We left just about 5 p.m. Loved the sail away party. Shortly after we left the dock, we could see 3 dolphins jumping near the dock. What a sight! Just like the cruise video when they have the cartoon dolphins jumping near the ship, lol. All of a sudden we noticed we were going back to the dock. Several cars rushed up near the ship, followed by an ambulance and fire truck. Someone injured himself and was taken off the boat. We left again shortly thereafter.
I did look for my fellow Dis'ers at 3:15, but didn't see anyone. Not sure who or what I was looking for, but I waited about 5 whole minutes, lol, and then went to sign my daughter up for the Oceaneer's Club. I was impressed with the kids' club. Very nice place, a little dark though. I'm sure it's meant to be this way, but being that they are on deck 5 with the lifeboats, they have very little sunlight there. DD loved it though. She also loved the Princess cruiseline's kids' club. Less kids there and she got to know the teachers very well. She has no idea what the teachers' names on the Disney cruise are, but that's understandable considering there are 700 kids on it, lol.
Nassau - nice, got good deals on some tanzanite jewelery. DH is a sweetie!
Castaway Cay - loved it. Perfect place although was disappointed that there was a lack of waves, lol.
Shows - Hercules - good. Disney Dreams, great. Comedian/magician - very funny. No complaints!
Bingo - my cruise tradition. Unfortunately for Disney but Fortunately for me, I guess, I missed out on the 2 games I went to play. First game didn't have enough people show up for it so they canceled it. Then on the sea day, I got there just after 10:30 - game was supposed to start at 10:45 according to Navigator...Navigator had a typo apparently and they started it at 10:30 instead. Missed it. Oh well. 40 bucks saved for me I guess. (The Navigator had a lot of typos that I noticed. AM when it should have been PM. Dinner when it should have said lunch, etc. The Bingo thing really was disappointing though. They should have held off until 10:45 as it was stated in the Navigator.)
Service - great. Our waiter was wonderful. Great personality. Lots of fun! Our assistant waiter was good, but she kept taking the plates away without asking if we were done. My daughter's plates were taken away from her at least 4 times during the cruise (she's 5) and we would turn around and the plates were gone. Obviously the assistant waiter has no kids because all parents know that 5 year olds are not always done with their food just because they aren't actually using the fork at the time, lol.
Disembarkation - super smooth! OMG! After my prior cruises with other lines, I Have to wonder what the heck those lines are doing! My last cruise on Princess took me 3 hours to get off the boat. It was almost noon! I was off the Wonder by 8 a.m. Couldn't believe it! Amazing! Tiffany town car was there to take us to the Villas at Wilderness Lodge - nice resort. Being a DVC member came in handy for us on this very short notice trip!
I already had my 7 day cruise booked before this cruise. (Was gonna rebook onboard for the $200 credit, but my TA's price from several months ago was so good that it would not have benefitted us to rebook.)
Looking forward to our January cruise now!
