I just returned from yet another wonderful trip to Disney. The trip didn't start out as wonderful as I wished...we walked into the hotel lobby of the POR and were greeted by the sounds of 100's of cheerleaders but we got over that aspect quickly. We got to the hotel around 9 on the first night and just grabbed a quick bite, hit the pool and retired to the room for an early bedtime.
On a side note, we loved the hotel. It was our first time (me and my girlfriend's first time at the POR. OUr room was great; close to the main pool and food court and steps from the north bus depot. the view was a parking lot but who cares anyway...all I do in my room is sleep.
Day 2(really day 1): Early wake up around 6(early entry at MGM). i got up and showered and headed to the food court to grab breakfast while my gf got ready. we ate a small meal in the room and headed to the bis stop. We got to the park a little early and waited in line. Once we got in we rode ToT, RnR, Space tours and Muppets before 9 am. we then waited for Buzz, woody and Jessie, who were taking photos at 10:15 and got our pics withthem. We then played who wants to be a millionairre. we posed for some photos w/ character and were back at the hotel pool by 12:30 sipping on pina coladas and mudslides.
We showered and headed to epcot around 5, strolled around the countries and went to our dinner at Le Cellier...the food was simply amazing. After dinner we watched illunminations and headed back to the hotel for some hot tub and pool time.
Day 3: same morning exercises ( a little later though) and jumped on the bus to Animal Kingdom. We walked around and hit all th rides we wanted to safari, dinosaur, tough to be a bug, lion king show, primieval whirl, jungle trek and then took a bus to downtown disney fo rlunch and some pre-shopping. we had lunch at a walk up counter place w. sandwiches and it was great and cheap. then we jumped on the boat and headed back to the hotel for som e leisure time. We then got dressed up all fancy and headed to cali grill. I really wanted to go for the view but the food was a great plus. the view was a little disappointing due to the rain but it didn't ruin my time. we then headed back to downtown disney and picked up the presents we had seen earlier and then to the hotel.
Day 4: Late wakeup...thank god! We got to Epcot around 10:30 and just walked around and hit test track and honey I shrunk the audience. we then made sure to take a photo in every country for our scrapbook. (disney now has great scrapbooks and scrapbook kits in their stores.) we then settled in for lunch at the ROse & Crown (ST. Patty's day) drank some green beer and had guinness stew for lunch. We then walked around the boardwalk and headed over to MGM on a boat for fantasmic. we got to fantasmic 2 hours early and the seats were as perfect as could be but we sat inour mickey ponchos in the rain from 5:30 to 7 and began to get scared b/c the loudspeaker kept saying they could cancel the show but magically at 7 the sun was shining bright and rainbow appeared behind teh Mountain and the show went on. It was great. We headed back to the hotel bar, ate some appetizers and had some drinks before retiring to bed.
Day 5: This was the longest I had ever been in Disney w/out stepping inside the Magic Kingdom but we made it over on our last full day. the park was crowded but we had e-ride tix so we waited in the small lines knowing we would be back in the evening to ride all the main rides. we had dinner at 5:15 at OHana and headed back to MK of the fireworks and E-ride. E-ride night was great, the CM's do a great job catching people without wrist bands who try and stay late. we managed to see all we wanted to see
Day 6: we had a late flight so we sat poolside for about 6 hours and then left WDW....how sad
Side notes: Disney was great. My only problem was that the one day that I was away from the hotel for the full day we returned to find that our Housekeeper/staff had accidentally left the room door propped open. it was very scary and I was pretty upset but nothing was missing.
Also a little funny story form OHana: I had heard that the waiters joke with you etc... So my bill came and i gave the waiter my credit card and he came back telling me that machine said to take my card...i kept laughing and he kept insisting. SO i gave him another card and called my bank. He wasn't kidding b/c my bank told me someone had illegallly stolen my # somehow and they shut down the card...it wasn't funny at the time but the fact that i thought the waiter was joking with me was funny.
The thing I love most about Disney is how personable everyon is down there, i had more converstaions w/ strangers poolsode, in-lines, waiting for shows than I have had at home for the last 20 yrs....
well, if you have any questions please ask....
