3/1/09 600 and 1400 Loop Construction Update-With Photos

Way to go TCD!!! :thumbsup2

"Mean Moe" that replaced "Mean Gene" told me in January that there will NOT be any cabins in the expanded 600 loop, and that YES, there will be 15 sites added to the loop. "Mean Moe's" actual name is John, but he didn't think "Mean John" sounded all that menacing.
Is that the guy we kept seeing Halloween?

If it is, he's cool as hell.

Here are a few quick photos of 600 progress. They were working everyday we were there except Sunday. It looks like the utilities are run to the sites now. They had just turned the water on to this site when I walked up.

The grading seems to be mostly done, the drainage all in place.

I know there was rumor that cabins were going in here. I didn't check each new site, but from what we see now, it will be all RVs.
A little closer look at the sewer hookup.

Yep! That's him, Pete. He was given "Mean Gene's" job & truck about a month b-4 Gene retired, and Gene gave him the cold shoulder after that. Nobody has heard from Gene since he retired.

Okay so I am panicking a little and maybe you can help with this....we are coming down in Oct and have a 26ft TT and friend of ours will be staying in a 10x12 tent. We have a preferred site, but we are now concerned that there wont be room for them to set up the tent, or that the site wont have a sand pad. Are all of the sites without a sand pad or just certain ones...and if they do have a pad , what are the chances the site will accomodate a tt and a tent......

Preferred sites do have a sand pad so you should have no problem. Worst case scenario is that you get a very shallow site and will be unable to park your TV at your site and have to park out in the overflow lot. I think this is pretty unlikely though. You should be able to fit your tent, trailer and TV all on most preferred sites.

Thanks for the info......you are now my "go-to-guy".......lol......another reason why I love this site. :worship:

The area that I had indicated was behind in the employee area, which is to the west of the check in up front.
I may be completely wrong, but that was the indication I got.

Thanks for posting. This is the area that you are talking about:

Did you see 18 trailers here?

I don't see how 18 trailers would fit in this space, or why they would store them here. A big part of this area (I would say half of the parking lot area) is being used for golf cart storage.

If they needed a place to store 18 trailers until they could be installed on their permanent sites, there are many more logical places for them to keep them.

What did you hear/see, exactly, about these trailers?

How many new sites are they making in the loops?
18 trailers is what was indicated on the documents.
I am just speculating that they will be cabins, Like I said I may be wrong.:confused3

Really?

I never heard about this. Where, exactly was the pen? Toward the lake or toward the road? How big was the pen? When was this? Why was the deer there? Some type of educational display, I would guess.

this is by no means a great picture, as microsoft does not seem to update virtual earth, and my memory may be off a bit, but i do remember the deer being in a pen in this area:

So was the deer just there all alone? Was there some provision for guests to feed him? I guess in that location he would have been visible from the train.

Thanks for posting that photo. I figured this would be the area that you were talking about. Was the pen as big as you have indicated? That would be pretty big for one deer. It is weird that I have never heard anything about this. It seems so random to just stick a deer in a pen in the middle of the campground.
