I guess in all my visits to the Poly I've either had a 1st or 3rd floor room with a balcony. I know most of the 2nd floor rooms at the Poly do not have a balcony but do they at least have sliding glass doors that open? If I remember right they still have a railing about half way up the windows. I wouldn't mind one so much if we could at least open the windows/door but if the room is completely shut in then I'll request a 1st or 3rd floor room.

TIA :)

Yes they are just like the other rooms on other floors. The sliding glass door is the same and opens the same.

We have actually had the 2nd floor a couple of times and its really not that big a deal. The door opens just like if it where a patio just no going out. You can still peer out, lean, pull your chair over from the table you have and make it your own kinda "private" balcony. No one right next to you. And the Patio on the 3rd floor provides a kinda roof so that it blocks some of the sun and rain. There is still a rail same as the other floors. Same wood.

I agree that having a room with no balcony is not the end of the world and can be just as nice. You know when we stayed at the Disneyland Hotel the rooms were the same way and I never though of it as an issue. Even the Westin in Maui was a slider that opened to 2 inches of space before you hit a railing.
