2nd Fantasmic show ... or do the Fantasmic dinner Package ?

Hi -

We will be arriving June 21 for a week. I noticed that MGM has increased their hours and is now offering a second Fantasmic show Tuesday through Thursday the week we will be there. I had originally booked the Fantasmic dinner package for Monday night .... I'm now debating whether we should just plan to see the late show (10:30) one night and skip the package.

Has anyone gone to the later show during the summer ? I remember reading somewhere the crowds are much lighter for the later show ... would we still have to get in line 1 1/2 hours prior to show time ? I am not really concerned about getting the best seats ... I just want to be sure we all get seats together.

Any ideas ... which do you think you would choose ?

Definetly do the second showing. The second and third showings of Fantasmic are always less crowded that the first.

There's a THIRD showing of Fantasmic? I will be VERY happy with a second showing. I have never seen Fantasmic but heard it is one NOT to be missed. I really, really, really don't want to wait in line, in the heat, for over an hour with the possibility of standing. I know my DH won't do it. But with a later show with less crowds and the sun has already set it sounds like a go!!!! When and where do you find out about these changes?

I found the updated hours on the Disneyworld.com site.

They were only updated to include the longer hours and additional Fantasmic shows, Spectromagic and MK fireworks a few days to a week ago or so.

I have never heard of a third Fantasmic either ! Maybe something they add during Holiday periods ... I am very happy to have a 2nd showing for the end of June, too. It looks like you will be travelling in July? ... I would think they would add a second show then also. It seems like they wait until the 11th hour to put out the real schedule, and even that is subject to change.

BTW - I'm in Central Jersey, too ...Monmouth County.

Anyone ever do a 2nd show ? How early should we get in line ?

We'll be doing the second show instead of the Fantasmic dinner thing. The only other experience I can relate is when my DGD and I went the week before Easter 2001..a very busy time. There were tons of people waiting for the first show to be over so they could sit for the second show. A CM was trying to tell people that they didn't have to wait in line that there were going to be plenty of room at the second show. Of course, no one listened and kept waiting in the line. My DGD and I grabbed a snack and sat accross from the entrance until we saw the crowd of people moving forward then we joined them. The arena did get pretty full, but not totally.

I think it all depends on if there are small kids in your group. I know after a day in the parks my kids 8, 5, 3 would never stay awake for a show that started at 10:30. But if your group doesn't include young kids , definitely do the late show!!!
