Howdy folks!

My wife and I are Florida residents and frequent WDW visitors (AP holders, etc.). We had our first Disneyland trip a few years ago and had a blast - unfortunately, it was about 9 months before the start of the 50th, so the castle was covered, HM was closed for the Nightmare overlay, Matterhorn was closed, etc. etc...so, although we completely fell in love with Disneyland, we were left a bit disappointed.

We are making plans to go back in late May/early June, this time with my son (he'll be 10).

Tentative schedule is as follows: fly out on Thursday, do DL on Friday, DCA on Saturday & both again on Monday. Tuesday, we'd like to explore a bit. Being east-coasters, we'd love to drive out to Hollywood and hang out there for awhile. Maybe visit Walt's marker at the cemetary. But, we're open to other (cheap) ideas. Wednesday, we'll check out and fly home.

Now - we're looking to stay offsite and get a 3 day hopper. We've got AAA, so I think we'll get a good rate. Definitely want to walk to DL from the hotel, so right across the street would be best. Best Western Park Place Inn seems to be closest and have good rates, is that accurate?

As far as our Monday excursion - how would we go about renting a car. Are there any places to pick up and drop off a car right near Harbor? I'd hate to have to get a taxi or something like that.

Anywho, we're definitely open to ideas, suggestions, etc.

Thanks!

a lot of people recommend HOJOs. Though its next to a freeway, people say its a great place to stay...

I know there is also a manager of Quality Inn so he might be able to offer some deal there. Go poke him.

Car Rentals are South of you. Its about a 30 min walk to the car rental area... the closest one would probably be the DTD branch by Disneyland Hotel but its like walking down... If you call each branch, you might be able to have them pick you up at the hotel so you dont have to walk there yourself. If not, im sure the hotel will give you the # on how to go about and renting. the ART buses can probably take you down there to the rental car lane...

Carousel Inn, BWPPI and Tropicanna are the three more popular "close" hotels, for a rental car there are number on Harbour (opposite side of the road to DL) heading toward Katella. There is an Avis in one of the hotels, Dollar Rental on the corner of Katella and Harbour and just round the corner on Katella (heading back towards DL on the RHS is National (we used them), its no more than a ten minute walk from DL.
