CABANA DAY!!! It’s Sunday and we decided that it would be a good pool day…let the crowds thin out and we’ll go on Monday. We slept in since we were all beat from the long drive and no sleep, and Florida is an hour ahead of our time. Got to the cabana (#9) at 9:30. Someone had mentioned that the music was really loud in this area but it wasn’t. Actually we could just barely hear it. Of course all the tv’s are showing the videos to the songs they are playing but once those are changed it’s not so loud. We had a mini fridge with 2 mini waters and 2 cokes, 2 diet cokes and 2 sprites. We stuck our extra waters in there and put 2 wine coolers in the little freezer. The Beach Club opens up at 11:00 and the lifeguard brought out the fruit baskets. We all basked in the sun until we were hungry. There is a phone in the cabana and we called the beach club and ordered frozen alcoholic beverages ($6.95) along with shrimp baskets and a couple of hamburgers. This was all brought over within 20 minutes. My sister is a Nascar freak and was really excited to be able to watch the race on the tv by the pool!!! The pool was really crowded and I was really glad to have the cabana to sit and eat and take a little break from the sun. The kids headed for the parks after we ate lunch. Sis and I stayed down in the sun until 3pm when it just got to be too much sun for one day. We showered and checked out the hard rock store in the hotel in the lobby then we headed for shopping in city walk. The Universal store has some good buys on embrodried t-shirts $14.99. We met the kids at the Hard Rock Café where we had made reservations at 6 pm. Glad we did…it was a 45 minute wait otherwise. Of course we had our HRH cards also. My sister and I did a couple of shooters so we could keep the glass. Girls got hamburgers and I got the jerk chicken (spicy!) After we left the sun had gone down and it was breezy, it felt kind of chilly so we headed back to the hotel to watch the Oscars. Music went off in the pool again around 10pm and we got another good night of rest (other than 2 people in our party who snore!!!):smooth:

I keep hearing the pool is crowded and I am sure it will be May, so the cabana sounds like a good idea. But you rent for a full or 1/2 day right? I don't want to spend hours by the pool, if I rent one but show up late to it, do you think I would have a problem getting it still? People can't use it if they don't have reservations, right?

We were there during the July 4th week. The hotel was fully booked and we never had a problem getting chairs at the pool. There are plenty of spots with shade.

If you have reserved a cabana they have a sign on the table saying it's reserved in your name...nobody will take it over. We had it from 9-3 for $35. That actually ended up being just the perfect amount of pool time for us. I think we were there during their busiest time....it's not that you couldn't find chairs if you had too, they just might not be where you'd like to be. We wanted in the sun either in the sand or near the pool, not in the shade. People come and go so if you pay attention you can snag chairs when people pack up to go. When we left on the last day we had 4 chairs, one of us got up to change in the bathroom and someone grabbed that chair even though we still had all our stuff there!!!

THANKS FOR THE INFO ON THE CABANAS. I PLAN ON RENTING ONE OUR LAST DAY SINCE OUR PLAN LEAVES AT 6:00PM.

CAN'T WAIT TO READ THE NEXT DAY. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
