The Cavness’ second annual Anniversary trip. Day 3.

Cast of Characters:

Me – Father of 2 – just got a job so I’m happy again.
DW – Mother of 2 – DH just got a job so she’s happy again.

Sunday morning.

Another glorious day. Checking the Weather Channel It was going to be another day in the 90s. We ate breakfast at the Boardwalk bakery. Two croissants and a plain bagel and cream cheese please. We watched a family with a pouty four year old and took bets on whether or not the parents would cave in. They caved. LOL

Today we spent most of the day at MGM. First was Who Wants to be a Millionaire. This is really fun though I wish the games lasted a little longer. Everybody gets to play - the trick is to start pressing the button you choose before the lights come on. You really have to be fast to have a chance to win.

I did very well. Out of the two games – 4 times they showed scores I was on the top 10 list twice. Once I was #10 the other time I was #4. Not quite good enough to get in the hot seat but I’m sure I would have choked there anyway. Of course I had an advantage. The last question of the first set was: “What state is the Gopher State?” Hmmm… LOL. The person in the hot seat chose North Dakota. Oh well – he still got his hat and pins. I could have spent all day in there.

We then walked through the Animation exhibit. What a cool exhibit. The only mistake we made was that this was Sunday so no-one was working. But I sure learned a lot. For some reason I thought that computers played a bigger role than they do. Most of the frames are still drawn by hand. Though nobody paints the colors by hand anymore.

Time for lunch. We ate at Mama Melrose’s again. We love that place – they actually cook with wood and the quality of the food is amazing.

I truly believe that the pizza is the best pizza I have ever eaten.

We rode the Great Movie Ride – the wait was at least a half-hour. I don’t think it’s going anywhere. I swear, someday I am going to rent Footlight Parade and the Seekers. I have watched the previews to those shows so many times at the Great Movie Ride. . (Side note: I bought Footlight Parade, The Seekers and Public Enemy a couple weeks ago. We would never have heard of these movies if it wasn’t for The Great Movie Ride.)

After the Great Movie Ride we headed back to the Boardwalk,

spent some time in the pool then headed to Epcot. We had heard of a great restaurant at the Japan Pavillion called Tempura Kiku. There was no room at the Teppanyaki Dining room but we got seated immediately at Tempura Kiku. It was great fun to watch the cooks make the sushi and the Tempura. DW and I love Sushi though we haven’t been brave enough yet to try the roe or anything really exotic. We both had salmon and salmon rolls then tried a bit of Tempura. It was all excellent.

After eating we decided we would go to Downtown Disney to do some shopping. The Disney transportation system is on a hub and spoke system where the parks, and downtown are on the hubs and the resorts are on the spokes. You can get to any other park from a park but you cannot get from resort to resort without going to a park first and transferring to another bus. It would have been very easy for us to walk back to the Boardwalk then take a bus to Downtown Disney but we decided to go directly from Epcot instead. It was about 9:00 when we left Epcot – through the front gate. We looked around for a bus to Downtown Disney – Uh Oh – no such thing. OK what do we do now – we could go to another resort though there is no way to get to the Boardwalk from here but instead we decide to go to the Ticket and transportation system by Monorail. There has to be a bus to Downtown from there right? So we take a totally unnecessary ride on the monorail – standing up – to the ticket and transportation center and what do we find there? No bus to Downtown. By this time it is getting late so we decide we should just go back to our resort. Guess what – there is no bus to the Boardwalk from the TTC either. But there was a bus to MGM which is, of course, closed. After reaching MGM we found out that the boats are not running anymore but there was – magically – a bus to Downtown Disney, go figure. It’s so late by this time that we just walk back to our resort via the new walkway and go to bed. Next time we will know better.

It was another fabulous Disney day. Getting lost in the Disney transportation system was our own fault and something we laughed about the next day. Everybody has to do that at least once.

I also get messed up with the transportation system at least once every trip - but hey - I am at Disney - thanks for posting

Great reports. The pics were great, too. :)
