Prior to our next month's cruise, I've only cruised as a single mom with my son. This time, I'm also giving my mother, who does not live with me, the gift of a cruise with her grandson & me. She'll be in our stateroom.

I already did online check-in and prepped all documentation for the 3 of us. My mother just called, saying she also got a cruise booklet mailed to her, and she has forms to fill out that she doesn't know what to do with.

Has anyone else traveled in the same stateroom with an adult from another household? Does my mother need to fill in her own forms? Can she have her own separate onboard spending account?

I'm not sure about the separate forms, but I'd have her go ahead and fill them out just to be on the safe side. She can for sure have her onboard charges put on her own separate charge card. Have a GREAT cruise!! :)

As you said, she's received her "own" cruise documents. If you've already filled everything out during the Check in process, she doesn't need to fill anything out. It's basically the same "who's going to be responsible for this account" info that you had to fill out online.

Did you put your credit card info down for her? If so, and you both want her charges to go to her credit card, that needs to be changed.

You can do that online, or just wait until you check in at the port and do it there (or maybe onboard at Guest Services).

I called DCL & they said she doesn't need to fill out any of her booklet, since I did online check-in for everyone. They said the booklet was redundant paperwork, sent out for the benefit of those who don't do online check-in, & she simply got one because she lives in a different household. So no worries there.

I did give my mother charging privileges on my account during online check-in, but since she's asked to have her own account, they said she'll be able to set up her own during check-in at the port.

Thanks, everyone.

You might be able to update the online check-in to have your mother on a different credit card, but you would need her credit card information.

We did this for my mother, who stayed in the same stateroom as my sister's family. That way she had her own credit card account to use whenever she used her KTTW card. We just entered the info online because that made it faster at the port, but either way is fine. She got her own statement at the end of the cruise that way too.
