Ive stayed at both before.

But I am taking friends and my girlfriend who have never been to Disney so have never stayed on property. We are staying 12 nights

Im torn between 2BR VGF Lake View or 2BR BLT Theme Park View

VGF is flagship and beautiful, but no park view or fireworks (with music from room)
BLT is has park view with fireworks, but you also see parking lot.

My other half and I.

2 adults for them, 3 kids (12,11 & 2)

Thoughts?

I didn’t vote yet.....how many total people? I’m not sure about the 2 bedroom set up VGF. I’m partial to the 2 bedroom lockoffs at BLT because of 3 full baths, the sleeper chair and the kitchenette in the lock off studio....comes in handy for noisy early risers making coffee and such.

Sorry:

Me and other half.

Them -

2 adults (mum and dad), 2 kids (11 and 12), 1 weeny one (2 yr)

They are all happy to stay in the studio side of it, there are 2 Queen beds and a crib for the young one.

Much though I ❤️ love 💕 VGF, I'm saying definitely BLT because lake view at VGF is a crashing bore compared with fireworks viewed from your room (wearing just enough clothing to prevent being arrested :p).

DH's and my first trip together was in a theme park view CR Tower room. We sat on our balcony, left the door a wee bit open so as to hear the fireworks audio from the tv, and had fireworks going off almost directly overhead, it felt like. The most spectacular experience!

We still talk about how wonderful it was almost 20 years later.

I vote for BLT 2Br- 3 bathrooms 😍, short walk to MK, short walk to bus stop for visiting other parks.

Ive now added a split stay....... could do that as we are there for 10 nights
You might like a split stay, but it's questionable if all the others (who have never been) will enjoy the split stay.

With 4 adults and 2 tweens, BLT's third bathroom will be useful.

Conversely, BLT has probably the worst DVC pool. Both Grand Floridian's pools are much better.

I suggest showing your girlfriend online photos, discuss the pros-and-cons, and let her decide. :)

VGF and BLT have completely different vibes, and I suspect she'll favor the theming of one over the other.

There's also the factor of some of the group possibly taking root once they've gotten settled in--which I tend to do.

I'll do one night elsewhere reluctantly to experience another DVC resort. Also, we do like to stay cheap-points on arrival night and then move to our VGF home the first full day we're at WDW.

At which point, I'm not packing and going anywhere else until I absolutely must because it's time to leave.

Something to consider...

It was the parents who asked if they could move half way - I didn't even suggest it......

I’m glad you said that. We’ve never been able to stay longer than 8 nights, and we don’t like split stays, but for 10-12 nights I think a split stay would be reasonable (half at each location). If you decide to stay put in one resort, I’d vote for BLT due to the 3rd full bath.

I love split stays but would not have enjoyed it with a 2 year old. However there seems to be enough hands to pack everything up and getting to experience two resorts is pretty awesome. Any chance you’d add an Epcot resort to the mix? Or AKL? 😁

I know I know, I'm not helpful. Vote is for BLT if only one can be chosen. They won’t know what they’re missing re: the pool, and the fireworks have that “wow” factor.

We stayed in a VGF Lake View GV a couple of weeks ago and loved watching the fireworks from our third floor balcony. We couldn’t see the castle, but could see the fireworks, and enjoy the music and narration which was played through speakers near the building. BLT is very nice, but VGF is magical and more beautiful. And while the walk between VGF and MK is a bit longer than from BLT, it is much more pleasant and scenic and does not involve walking alongside a busy road and having to wait at traffic lights.

2BR at VGF. Absolutely beautiful and the 2 year old will love the splash pad at the resort. Agree with pp who said the pool at BLT is on the bottom of the list for DVC pools. We own at both and while we like BLT we absolutely love VGF. Have a great trip whatever you decide!

With theme park view at BLT, the kids will love seeing the monorail swooshing by and going in and out of CR Tower (heck, I'm in my 30s and so get excited by this!). You also have Chef Mickey's, a rite of passage for many kids' first time at WDW. The walk to MK will be nice and short for bringing the 2 y/o back for to the room for naps.

With kids close to those ages, I also say BLT. The convenience to the hotel from MK will be a plus if the youngest needs to nap or just take a rest. (I highly suggest they do not try to be park warriors with that age.) The view from the room will be great if they don't want to keep the kids up just for fireworks. The monorail is cool for everyone, but it's really cool for kids to see in the hotel.

And yes, 3 bathroom is essential with all of those people - kids are messy. :-)

with all of that time there, maybe someone could stay back with the 2 year old and let the older kids enjoy the parks later at night if they are up to it. I guess it depends on everyone's schedule and preferences.
