If I have read the DDP brochure correctly, and these boards, I can go to Le Cellier in Epcot for dinner and order the following meal on the plan and it counts as one Table Service credit and it costs me nothing...

Appetizer - Crab and Salmon Timbale $11.99
Entree - Mushroom Filet Mignon $27.99
Dessert - Le Cellier Canadian Cheese Selection $12.99
Beverage - Diet Soda $2.99
Total - $55.96

Is this correct?? I got the prices off the menus on another site. It just seems too good to be true. :confused3

We are going in September and have the free dining. It is our first time on the plan and I'm just trying to make sure I understand it correctly.

All looks good except the cheese selection. I'm thinking I read that it may be excluded (or has to be used by 2 people). I may be wrong, but I vaguely remember something. I'm sure someone will post. Actually I'll be eating at LeCellier's tonight, but won't be able to post back until I return on May 11. But now that you like the price, you didn't add the tax and 18% tip on to the bill too to make it even higher. This is why so many of us love the DDP (even if you have to choose another desert). It gives you such options.

Not too good to be true...it is. The other PP said, you won't be able to do the cheese selection unless you are sharing it with someone else on the DDP. I've also read on the board that the Mushroom Filet is no longer on the menu. From first hand experience last August on free DDP, the Maple BBQ Filet is delicious!

Last summer we racked up well over $1200 in free food. We've got two trips planned with free dining this August & September and are anticipating well over $1500 on each.

If you plan carefully, you won't have to spend one penny out of pocket, perhaps other than the purchase of a refillable mug to use at your resort.

On our trip in Dec 2005, we basically did exactly what you posted. DH got the cheese selection for his appetizer, the filet, and he like the cheese selection so much he got it for dessert too!! All of that cost ONE TS.

Fast forward to Dec 2006, the cheese selection was no longer offered!! He was devastased. He had been looking forward to it for a year. Our server said it was a special selection and it had changed to something else.

Has anyone had it since Dec? We'll be back in June and if it's offered that would be great!

We went two years ago and paid for the DDP. It was worth it to us even to pay for it, because we got to eat at nicer places and eat great food that we otherwise could not have done on our budget. Of course at that time, there were little to no limitations on what was on the menu. We loved the fact that the tax and tip was included! We didn't have to have hardly any cash on us. We did run out of snack credits and had to buy a few snacks ourselves that last day maybe two. But that was because it was SO HOT and we used the snacks for bottled water!

Have fun drooling over the menus and deciding on the ones you like!

So is there a little symbol beside each item on the menu that is allowed on the DDP?

We just returned and no, there are no symbols on the menus (except for the snack carts), but the servers were very versed in what is included and what is not. If we had any questions, we just asked. My kids asked at every meal if shakes or smoothies were included and they were at some restaurants, and weren't at others.

My friend got the cheese selection at California Grill. I believe that is still available. But that is a two-credit restaurant, not a one-credit like Le Cellier.

No there is no symbol on the menu, rather it will be in parenthesis or in small print under the item that it serves 2--if it is a serves 2 item you may order it, but someone else in the group must order it as well. What happens is if 2 people are dining then the cheese sampler would be ordered as the dessert for both persons--one large item brought out to table to be shared and both "credits" considered used.

Looks like you've got a good understanding of the ddp. And it does seem to good to be true...BUT it's not. It turns into being a GREAT way to eat at Disney. Sometimes it's hard to believe some people just can't see the savings...or the deal in the DDP :confused3 Oh well. We do:thumbsup2

I'm not sure how much it'll help....BUT when we go in Sept I'm planning on asking the server up front to please let us know if there is anything we're ordering that's NOT on the plan. Most of the time they'll ask you if your on the plan....if not just let them know that up front as well. I found last time some of the servers really went out of their way to make sure you knew of all the things you could have or "add" on that were included in the plan. Works as a double whammy...it increases what your able to get (maximize the plan) and it ups the total bill...so the servers get a better tip:thumbsup2 Gotta LOVE DDP.:goodvibes

Both the cheese sampler and the dessert sampler at Le Cellier are considered to serve two people. Last May we were allowed to order the dessert sampler, but it counted as dessert for both me and my mom. As someone else said, the CMs are very well versed in what's allowed and what's not allowed at most restaurants. Usually as soon as we mentioned we were on the DDP they would immediately tell us if anything was not allowed. Saying that, I've heard that some servers at Whispering Canyon will allow you to get the bottomless shake as a beverage, while other servers have said they're dessert only. I would just ask.

There are appetizers for two at Alfredos and at Raglan Road. Sushi is not allowed as an appetizer at Wolfgang Pucks (but is allowed as an entree). In Dec I was not on the DDP and the waiter at Spoodles kept telling me I couldn't have the dessert sampler, even if I was on the DDP. Excuse me I told him three times I had the DDE card, not the DDP. He finally said he just wanted to make sure I understood. Yeah, I did, he didn't.:rotfl:

Just so you know, the salmon-crab timbale is no longer on the Le Cel menu, neither is the cheese sampler (as mentioned previously). We were there earlier this week and there are some new additions on the menu. Two of which I tried, I will be posting on them in my dining report if you are interested.

Yessssss! Where's your dining report? Is it posted yet? Can I have a sneak peek? And was one of the new items you tried the seared raw tuna???????

The first day of my dining report is up on the dining reviews thread, I would have loved to try the tuna but my stomach was not up to it, thanks to a disaster at the new tea stand in China :sad2: I will have Le Cel up soon, the two new items I tried were the bouillbaise and the cherry shortcake with lavender ice cream. :)

We went last Oct and the menu you get on the ddp is different than the regular one. My son-in-law got the regular one by mistake and they took it up and gave him the other one. We wouldn't have known this if this hadn't happened. The food is about the same with a few exceptions. I didn't have time to look closely to see what the difference was. Just thought you all would like to know. Oh, by the way, we went at lunch.

During Free Dining last year, our tab at Le Cellier was 371.61. The only thing it cost us was the time it took to sign the receipt! Gotta love that Free Dining! :upsidedow

The crab and salmon was NOT on the menu during free dining (August) last year. It was on the menu in February 2007.

We were on the dining plan both times, and the menu that ws given to us was the same as if you paid.

As I have noted, free dining is a very good deal, but we have noticed a disctinction between the quality/selection/portions during the time of free dining and other times of the year.

You usually get the menue before the CM know you are on the DDP. They may have give you a dinner menue instead of a lunch menue by mistake. There is a difference between the lunch and dinner menue. ME and DW did LE Cellier last year and have ADR for this Sept. Me and DW had exaxtly what the origional poster had and the total bill for both of us was $105.:cool1:

You have to ask for the DDP menu? I thought there was only one menu. I'm confused... :confused3
