Disney stepped in and bought the VGC we tried to buy. So disappointed! :sad1:

I am SO sorry!!! I know you were really hoping it would go through. Your contract is the 2nd VGC that they have taken. I know there is a wait list for those points via Disney so I wonder if that is why.

Keep trying!!!

That's my guess, but I refuse to pay their $120. Hopefully we can try again soon.

What a total let down. Down give up though! I agree with you the prices to buy direct through Disney are very high.

Very sorry to hear this. I was the first one to get ROFR'd at VGC a couple of weeks ago.

I'm still #8 on my UY wait list with Disney after 4 months, so I guess they are going to be buying back a lot of contracts there. There might not be many good deals left resale if the price difference tightens between what Disney wants for them and what they are willing to pay to buy back on the resale market.

I've been nervous waiting ever since I saw yours get bought. I just knew mine would, too. We'll just keep hoping & waiting. :)

I am glad to see Disney exercise ROFR, but sad for you that you lost a good deal. I am sure the prices will come down in the next 1-3 years just like the other resorts.

Sorry to hear that you were ROFR'd. HOpefully you can pick up another contract.

exactly....while it might suck for the buyer to have the contract ROFR'd...it is good for all the other owners of VGC who are still being somewhat being protected. It would be nice if they ROFR more resorts...but they need the direct purchase demand to go up first.

They are not being "protected" in any sense other than by the demand for that property. If demand for VGC dries up, "protection" will too, just as it has with all of the other resorts, BCV sometimes excepted.

The only thing being "protected" is Disney's profit.

Disney does not do this for fun if they dont make a profit they cease to do it

So sorry to hear it. When VGC was first announced (before the great recession!), there was speculation that it could sell out within 30 days, and never make it to the general public! It wasn't THAT hot, but apparently there's still a lot of demand. I'm glad I bought when I did, and glad my guide talked me into a few more points. I still watch for March resales, though...:cool2:

So sorry to hear about this! Although, I love GCV and it is good to see such strong demand at our little resort, both resale and new purchases. Katherine

I wonder how much the use year affects this? My brother decided to jump in for GCV as it's closer for him than using our DVC at BWV. He just got word his purchase was approved for a June use year at $84/pt, 220 points, 12 '10 pts, all '11 and '12 pts., buyer pays closing and member fees.

Interesting that his passed but homemom's did not! I wonder if it is because he's paying closing and dues?

It's even more interesting since this is the UY I'm on the Disney wait list for. I'm #8 for that UY and have been waiting 4 months already.

Plus, I had my resale for June UY ROFR'd 3 weeks ago.

PLUS, Disney is raising the price on Monday to $130/point, so they certainly had some room with the price.

PLUS PLUS, last week they bought back a VGC at $85!

I don't get it.
