couple questions. We consider ourselves ggreat at doing disney with kids(young and old as ours range from 5-21) but have never been by ourselves. this will be like a 2nd honneymoon for us and wanting some input on what not to miss, and an affordable but nice place to stay that we can have a room with some privacy. considering POR(hater paying so much extra for a king bed), even though I would like to try POP. Even considering staying off property.we have stayed at parkway international and royale parc suites before but I would like to stay onsite. We drive so we have a vehicle. any suggestions are helpful

I'm in the same boat as you. Going this fall for our 25th and our first time without kids. We've decided to go during the Food and Wine Festival and do one extra event. My wife says it's going to be the 3D Dessert Discovery. We are going to stay at POR but we will also be on a tight budget, unfortunately. We have a wedding to pay for the week before we go so money will be tight.

donaldude congrats on your anniversary! having one in college and 2 still at home, it will be tough for us too. We are kinda hoping for free dining as we have to do the hoop de do review(hubbys favorite) We are considering everything, even taking down the camper to stay at ft wilderness, but we are from Ohio and in Feb snow through the mountains is a concern. We are excited about epcot, as our kids hate most of it and we end up only doing 1/2 day there. It will also be nice not having to do child swap for like the first time ever! We are taking the kids in the summer or I probably would feel too guilty to go on this trip. also noticed you have done POP. did you like it?

We enjoyed Pop and my wife enjoyed their choc. chip pancakes. We probably won't ever stay there again unless we have grandkids some day. It's very kid oriented and they are running everywhere. We are also hoping for free dining. We also have college payments. What part of Ohio are you from? I've been up there a lot. Was in Columbus a few weeks ago. I hit the Winking Lizard and The Columbus Fish Market.

Happy Anniversary! It is our 25th next October, and we are doing the same thing - going to WDW with no kids. We are DVC members, so will be doing a 1 bedroom at OKW. I do like Pop though, my value of choice, and DH and I stayed there for a quick weekend away a few years back, and I'm sure we had a king size bed! Maybe it's something you could request??
Also, if you want a grown-up night out that's fun, we absolutely love Jellyrolls at Boardwalk - it's a dueling piano bar, but looks like a roadhouse, and it's all kinds of fun - we've been twice and will not miss it whenever we go in the future! Also, if you want to stay in a moderate, you might look into the Caribbean beach - I loved the beaches right outside our door with hammocks to swing in (I think we stayed in the Jamaica section) - very pretty there.
Have fun planning!:goodvibes

thank you jellyrolls sounds fun. trying so hard to talk hubby into staying on property. So hard when we can get a huge condo type hotel for so cheap in kissimmee. It is nice to have a couch to sit at and a kitchen, its just not the same. we arent disney commandos, we go and have fun, but leave in the middle of the day and hang out the rest of the day. free dining would be the ONLY way I could talk him into it, and even with that I dont know if I can. Carribean beach, and POR seem to be my favorite mods though. thank you

Maybe look into renting DVC points - all the studios (except at OKW) have a queen bed, pullout couch, nice balcony to sit on, and a kitchenette.

My husband and I are doing our first solo, no kids anniversary trip in September ourselves. 17 for us! :thumbsup2 I first booked us off site. Then read all the reviews (usually do that first) and quickly cancelled that. I then booked POP because we had wanted to try that on other visits, but as a family of 5 we were not able to unless we booked two rooms, which was not worth it. Anyway, I then changed that to SOG (military/government owned resort on site for military and DOD employees) which is more like a moderate/deluxe Disney resort. Personally, I would go with POR, we stayed there once and it was very nice. Loved walking around the grounds which are beautiful. While there are plenty of kids all over Disney we didn't feel it was too loud or anything. Something we hear alot about Pop. The only reason we didn't choose POR is because they didn't have any military rates left and we wanted to say within a a $700 budget.

Zoom congrats on 25yrs! My DH and I never had kids and we are frequent visitors to Disney. Any chance you have any ties to military? If you are active duty, or retired I recommend the shadesofgreen.org
Shades of Green is in a great location. Half mile walk to the Polynesian to use the monorail, they also have decent bus transportation to the parks.

Our 2nd favorite place is the POP century even though it is kids orientated we always have a great stay there when we are on a budget.

Good luck hunting. :)

You might consider renting a vacation home. Since it's just the two of you, you won't need the extra room, but most of them have private, screened-in pools & hottubs, and a few even have a jacuzzi in the master bath. Not to mention the full kitchen.

The one's I've been looking at are $700-1000 for a week, and are 10-15 minutes from Disney.

You can google it and find a few that would suit you, if you're interested. :)

My boyfriend and I went with no kids earlier this year and we stayed at All-Star Sports and we had a king bed in our room and the rate was very reasonable because we had to do it on a budget also. Even though we were there during Spring Break, we still found that we had a lot of privacy from kids & noise at the hotel because it was so big. I would definitely recommend it. One thing that we did splurge on was the couples massage at Saratoga Springs. It was the best money that I have ever spent! We walked away from there feeling like new people and very, very relaxed!

Have you thought about a cruise?
DW and I have done our 15, 20, and 25th anniversaries on DCLs.

that was my first attempt!!! I have been on DCL 2x with my parents/kids, but hubby refuses to get on a cruise ship. I even said we could go on a more adult ship like rccl and still the answer was a big fat no way!!!

there has been so many great ideas!! thank you. We still havent made up our minds, will probably wait to see what kind of offers disney might give out for the end of february. My husband was in the military but not retired or anything, so SoG is out, and hubby has axed the values d/t too many kids running around. We most likely cant afford a deluxe, and I just really didnt want the vacation home(good idea, but not real vacationy feeling). so that leaves us with a mod(180 a nightbut ?free dining), renting points(145 night in studio at AKL, but no real kitchen), or off site(90 a night at parkway international, its a condo hotel). still a lot of options. Im sure whatever we will have a grreat time. I guess I just want it to be perfect!

My husband and I are taking our first solo trip in Feb and booked our first ever deluxe (Boardwalk) by renting points through a well known advertiser on the DIS. Smooth transaction and the only way we could afford to stay deluxe.
