I've never been on this particular board before, but I saw an item in the Sunday paper that said the Wedding Pavilion hosts 2500 weddings per year, which I found hard to believe. That comes out to nearly 7 per day!

I just have to ask: Is this for real? If so, how do they handle that load? Do people have 9AM or 11PM weddings? How much time are you allotted for a standard wedding? Do they have an "on deck" facility where those next in line get organized?

There are weddings all day starting at 8am at the pavilion. When you get married there, you get the pavillion for 2 hours for a custom wedding (set up, ceremony and pictures afterward.) They offered us 8, 10, 12, 2 and 4pm as our choices. I think they also do evening weddings too. So, at least 5 custom weddings a day, plus any intimate ceremonies (they may be quicker, less set up and less guests). They do everything so efficiently that you never feel rushed -- most of the bride and grooms preparation (dress, hair, make-up etc) is all done at the Grand Floridain. I arrived at the pavillion about 10 min before I walked down the aisle and we were gone before the guests for the next wedding started to arrive.

I did ask my EM how many weddings Disney did last year (she does Intimate and customs) and she said they had 900 intimates and she didn't really know how many customs last year.

WOW!

I knew it was a lot - imagine how many enquiries they must have in the first place if they turn into 2500 weddings. It's hardly surprising that they only want to deal with you at 8 months out !!!

Yeah, it's mathematically improbable that there are 2500 weddings at the Pavilion each year. I'll bet the writer meant that Disney's FairyTale Wedding department hosts that many weddings per year. There are several venues, including the Wedding Pavilion, around WDW where ceremonies are performed.

Ours was at Sunset Pointe, at the Polynesian Resort!
