I got the post card but it says something about some states being restricted from this offer. Does anyone know which states can NOT get this?? I can not find it for the life of me.

I would assume it would be all the states that can not normally receive the regular referral awards.

??? I thought, the restricted states were not eligible for this promo.

Again, I would assume that the states that normally can NOT receive the rewards, can also NOT receive ths $25 card. The states that normally receive the referral rewards should be able to get the $25 card.

Here is the list of states that CAN normally receive referral rewards.

Alabama, Arizona*, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois**, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio**, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Puerto Rico is also an eligible jurisdiction.

*Maximum redemption of $600 per calendar year.
**Maximum redemption of $1000 per calendar year.

Okay...I had a brain cramp. It's been one of those weeks.

I may be wrong but I believe members in the restricted states are eligible for this promotion. The state laws prohibiting rewards for a timeshare referral are normally tied to the PURCHASE, not simply a tour.

DVC ran a promotion like this about 4 years ago (although then I think it was a $50 gift card) and many posters who are normally ineligible reported that they had received the gift card.

I don't have the card in front of me but if you read the disclaimer carefully, it makes a distinction between the $25 Open House Tour reward and the more restrictive "Sharing the Magic" reward program.

It probably has to do with exactly how the laws are written in the various states. Some states may allow the $25 that don't normally allow the regular rewards, others may not. It could even depend upon the amount, some states may allow rewards under $100...I wish the states had more uniform laws.

How does this work? I received e-mail for tour referall for Chicago Doorway to Dream but then I saw online DVC news that said the person could attend via phone.

We purchased at DWD but had previously toured at WDW so I think our guide is the Orlando one. Who knows? She's the one who called when I had a question (10 days later.)

If anybody finds out that TX is eligible for the $25, even though we are not eligible for referrals, please post!

I have some friends who would be very interested in a phone tour but we figured we wouldn't be allowed to have the gift card.

I'm in Texas and got stilled when a friend picked up some DVC property so I called my rep and she said yes we do get the 25 gift card. because its not buys the property just a tour.
She said if you got the post card your good if its an email they may not know for sure what state your in and you need to check.
She named off some states on both lists sorry I did not pay any more attetion after she said we could get the gift card.

Long story short
Call your DVC rep

I saw the list too and since WV is not on the list, I wasn't even going to bother. It would be nice if they told us all of the fact up front without having to dig for them.
