25% cash reservation discount

I just got weekend nights in May at SSR at the member discount rate. 50 points for a 1BR or $307 discounted rate. I'd have to rent points for $6.50 each to match that rate.

Just wanted to say that I was able to rent (from the boards) for two more weeknights in a 1BR at $9.50/pt. Easy transaction and I already secured that reservation. And I was able to get two additional nights (Friday and Saturday) in the 1BR with the DVC discount through MS. Friday and Saturday night are (with DVC discount) $339.79/night instead of the regular price of $453/night. Each of these nights are 56pts per night, so if you do the math you'll see we're saving $$$ --> nearly $200 per night if we had bought the points at $9.50/pt.

Hello...I am currently pending on a contract to become a DVC member. We were planning a trip in early May 2006 and plan to use the points from the contract - but - it will be better to pay cash for the one weekend night. Since we are just waiting for the contract to close, can I go ahead and book the one night - and hope for a DVC discount - or do I have to wait until the contract closes and I am entered in the Disney system?

You won't be able to book through MS (the only way to get the 25% member discount) until you have a member number and are in the DVC system.
