Okay so I'm as ready as I think I can be to go to Disney with a 4yr old and being 24 wks pregnant. :thumbsup2

I have a maternity belt, water sling, good walking shoes.......scheduled down time......

What other tips am I missing for my pregnant self??

I'm 24 weeks right now too... just got back 2 weeks ago... the maternity belt was the best thing I brought along too - however, be careful as to what you refer to it as - I inadvertently called in "my strap-on", I thought my husband was going to pee his pants (we got a LOT of weird looks) :rotfl2:
My daughters are 2, 4 and 6 and we still had alot of fun - my two year old and I had alot of downtime while the bigger girls went on the rides with my husband - that definately helped! And make sure to keep drinking water!!
have fun and don't wear yourself out!!
good luck!! :)

I went last year at the same time during my pregnancy- I had a blast- only it was 80 degrees every day and I was hot. I sat alot cuz I couldn't keep up w/ DH and DS 5. Be prepared for the lack of rides you can go on- I was a little bummed about some of them. For the most part, I knew before hand, but there were a few surprises. Also, I felt FAT!! :) And, I got alot of weird looks- people thinking What in the world are you doing??

Anyway, I had a great time and so did my family.

We leave in 10 days with our 9 1/2 month old and 6 year old. I am SO looking forward to riding things- esp. TOT!!!!

Have fun!!!

As a OB RN who works in a resort area; I see many vacationing preg. women in our triage rooms. The number one issue is that they are contracting from dehydration. So drink, drink, drink H2O. Aim for 1 gallon a day. :-) And have a fabulous time! :sunny:

Have a great trip!! :sunny: I was 22 weeks pregnant for the trip we just took in December. We also have 3 sons ages 6, 4 and 1. I was a little worried about how tired I would get with all the walking. But it actually wasn't as hard as I thought it would be! I sort of got a second wind partway through the trip too, or maybe my body just got used to all the walking. It was a great time, no troubles! :)

Thanks for the tips.

Did any of you who went to WDW pregnant ride Kilmanjaro Safaris?? I'm debating this....obviously I don't want to put my baby at risk but I've read on other threads and boards that a lot of pregnant women do seem to ride this and either sit in the front or ask for the wheelchair vehicle.....

hmmmm

I did ride it, and I was 29 weeks along last summer....to be honest with you, I wouldn't do it again pregnant. Our car was soooo bouncy and I was airborne at least once or twice. Nothing happened to me or my baby, but I can't tell you I wasn't nervous and wondering if I made the right decision.

I did go on Kali River Rapids though and that wasn't too bad.

I didn't ride it, that's out of my comfort zone. :)

I was 26 weeks when we went at the end of Jan two years ago. It's a great time to go because it dosn't get too hot. I found I got to notice some of the finer details of the parks than on previous trips because we had to take it a little slower than normal. It was by far my favorite trip to Disney!
I rode Kilmanjaro Safaris. I told the CM in line that I was pregant and that I had been on the ride in the past. The CM got us to ride in the front row. The CM recommended anyone early or late in their pregancy to stay away from it. Truthfully I found the ride in Norway alot worst and I didn't see any signs warning pregant people to avoid it.
Have a great trip and have lots of fun!

I rode it when I was about 20 weeks and I sat in the front row. It wasn't too bumpy at all. It wasn't any bumpier than the cab ride I had taken in Boston a few weeks earlier! I did buy one of those water bottle straps so that I was never far from my bottle of water. It was the only thing i carried all week!

I've read that too, but it's not true (the part about the wheelchair vehicle.)

My DD uses a wheelchair. I have ridden in the wheelchair vehicle many times and also in the regular vehicle many times when she was not with us. The vehicle and the ride are the same. The only difference is that the wheelchair vehicle loads in a place that has a permanent ramp. The ride is just as bumpy as all the other vehicles, so you won't get a more "gentle" ride by riding in the wheelchair one.

You also will usually have a considerably longer wait for the wheelchair vehicle. Our longest extra wait for the wheelchair vehicle for the safari was 40 minutes.

I went last year at about 22 weeks. The best part was eating for me!!! Everytime DH would take DD2 and DD4 on a ride that I didn't go on, I'd say "ok, I'll be over at the ______ stand getting_______!" I also hated the sling, I don't think I was big enough, it was just uncomfortable and hot. I took it off and threw it in the trash in frustation!!

Remember after drinking all that water to make a note of where the nearest restroom. Nothing funnier than watching a pregnant woman make a mad waddling dash for the facilities!!! Trust me, I saw myself. DH was gracious enough to tape me doing it while I was 8 months pregnant!

I wore sneakers on the first day and my feet were so hot and swollen. I did much better with flip flops the rest of the time.

I rode the safari. It was fine. I did ask to ride in the front. I am a little more concerned about bringing my little one this year now that she is out of the protective confines of my belly. I will just be holding on real tight!

Lastly, be careful getting on and off the attractions that move constantly when lading/unloading. My balance was a little off and I hurt my bum one time, plopping a little too hard in the seat. Thank goodness for all the padding I have back there ;). I would hold my hand out for the CM to help me, and they all obliged. DH had his hands full helping DD's!!

Have fun!!!!

I went in December at 25 weeks. I rode the Safari, I just asked for the front row. It was fine, I don't find it to be any bumpier than some of the roads around here.

My words of advice are to sit whenever possible, even if you aren't tired at that moment. I was great in the mornings, but I got really worn down by the end of the day. Also, carry a small snack with you. Many times I would be in line for a ride or show and need to eat something small to tide me over until we were finished. Finally, drink plenty of water and take note of where the closest bathrooms are at all times. I think I visited just about every bathroom on Disney property during this trip.

I went to WDW in OCt. and was not quite 24 weeks, more like 20 but I had no problems. The only thing I realized was that instead of our normal charge ahead attitude we kind of did our own thing at our own pace. We had our 3 yr. old with us and pretty much did everything. (I was more of the picture taker though while daddy and his little guy rode the rides! Fine by me, I didn't feel too photogenic!) There are actually many rides that you can go on! I did ride Kilamenjaro Safari. It says not to if you are pregnant, but they did not say anything and I was really showing so they knew. You'll know what you can and can't do depending on how you feel. Yes, you do feel FAT walking around, but hey that is the beauty of being pregnant. Lunch and dinner were fun. (I'll order this and that, then 1 hr. later I'd be like, "i'm starving" becasue you are walking around so much!!)
Then there are the people that look at you, no wait STARE at you. Whatever! I'm pregnant not DEAD! But talk about STARES...I just went to the Aerosmith concert the other day and I am now 32 weeks!
Have fun! :yay:

I did it towards the end of my pregnancy when I rode it. I didn't have any problems. I think I was in the front row as well. I asked and they said they've actually had women go on in hopes to start labor. :teeth:

It will be personal preference of whether you are able to or not.

Definitely wouldn't recommend a pre-term labor risk patient to go on it though (though they probably wouldn't be at WDW anyway).

I went when I was 26.5 weeks pregnant--we had a blast! We took it a litle slower than usual, but didn't really miss anything. I skipped all the rides not recommended for pregnancy (including kilimanjaro safari). i don't really feel like i missed out...my husband rode our favorite a few times each during our trip using both of our fastpasses. i usually went through the queue and preshow with him one time and sat out the others to get a break or go to the bathroom. timing was perfect. i actually like going through the preshows for TT, MS, and RnR so much--I almost felt like I was riding it since the preshows are so cute. anyway, rest often, drink lots of water, and do lots of sit-down meals. enjoy!!
