I just booked our flight and we arrive in Orlando at 11pm on Thurseday. We sail Sat. of course. What would you do? WDW for 1 day? We were there a year ago. Loved it, but how much can you do in one short day. Should we rent a car and head for the coast, Cape Canveral(?), other touristy places?

I'd love to hear any and all your suggestions. What would you do with one day free?

Thanks!

You have a lot of options open to you and only you really know what you and your family would enjoy most:

- One day at Disney - I think many here would opt for that. Can you be happy with one park? Which would your favorite be?

- Disney without the parks - what about a day of shopping/entertaining at Downtown Disney? A day at one of the water parks to get the wet part of your vacation started.

- Other Orlando destinations - Universal, Sea World

- Space Coast destinations - Kennedy Space Center, Brevard Zoo, hanging out at the beach

The best thing is you won't have that same day rush of landing and getting to the pier after everyone else.

So enjoy your Friday and enjoy your cruise!

I'd vote for Kennedy Space Center... you'll get plenty of Disney fixes on the cruise, and you have recently been to parks. It's cheaper and closer to port, and something a lot of people haven't seen before. I haven't been since I was young, but I remember as a kid I thought the place was really cool, and have always wanted to go back.

Earlier in the year I had a spare day before my Wonder cruise. We checked in at the Radisson a day early, went to the Kennedy Space Centre in the morning for a bit, had a small peek at the beach, waved off the Magic and generally just relaxed and mooched around - I recommend it!

For the next trip I plan to get to Port Canaveral in the morning, perhaps visit the Manatee Sanctuary for a little bit, and basically plan to mooch all over again :)

How close to Port Canaveral is the Manatee Sanctuary?? My DS would love to go there.

I haven't checked into it specifically yet, but I seem to recall Shirley saying it was somewhere back behind the Radisson.

When we arrive early we normally spend a day at downtown disney. We went to Disney Quest and a few years a go did the cirque de soleil show. It was great! You could do the kennedy space center if you are into that kind of stuff. We did Discovery Cove which was REALLY cool. It is expensive but I loved it! I say just go and then decide! It is more fun to be spontaneous!
