Hello all, my wife and I are thinking about doing our first trip to the Kingdom without kids and was wondering about the 24 hours of Disney occurring on May 23rd. Has. Anyone done this in the past? What should I expect or consider? What was your experience?

I went to the 1st 24 hour One More Disney Day for leap year. The crowds were manageable because February is not a real busy time. I suspect having a 24 hour with Memorial Day weekend is going to be a madhouse! But i don't mind the crowds. You have to go in with the right attitude! Park will probably get to capacity. I would still go for it! 

Thanks for the info on the crowds. I've been to MK during Christmas and it was crazy busy. I think they had to shut down the entrance at about noon.

It's hot. It's busy. It's slow. It's fun. It's tiring. It's memories for a lifetime though. I've done it for the past two years and last year it was just really hot. It gets busy during the middle of the day and then again late at night/in the early morning. Pretty slowly in the morning and then late afternoon. You see people laying down/sleeping EVERYWHERE. It's pretty fun as long as you have someone fun to share it with.

I went to the last one for the opening and it was great. It wasn't too hot out yet and got through all of the rides before the park was crowded. Didn't have to wait for more that 10 minutes. Then we went back to the hotel for a nap after getting up so early and to recoup for the night ahead. Ended up going back for the parade and fireworks and stayed til 2 but there were so many parents with small children out that late it was ridiculous . They were all cranky and running into people with their strollers. I saw a parent pouring sugar down a child's throat to keep them awake. Finally gave up and went back to the hotel. The morning was much better than the late night

Did The One More Disney Day for Leap Year and loved it, I pushed myself too much and wimped out at 3am, this next one at the end of May I will be pacing myself better, I am tempted to leave the park at one point, get some kip and return after 11pm to finish the event this time, I am slightly worried it'll be gates closed and it is a risk, but, hopefully as I am staying on site I'll get back in. With the Leap Year event it was very busy especially as the rides do close for daily checks, but, there was still plenty to do.

Thank you all for sharing. I really want to do this. During our last trip we were able to last from 8:45am (when the park opened) till about 12:30am when my 10 year old called it a day. The park was open till 3am with magic hours that day. I still had energy but had to call it a day as well. If we do the 24hrs, it would be without the kids.

I found the vibe and energy very different in the park after the fireworks. Did anyone notice that too?

Thanks for all the information everyone. We booked our trip yesterday and will be doing the 24hours this year on May 23rd. Hope we survive it. So excited!

I saw a parent pouring sugar down a child's throat to keep them awake.

Just wanted to ask...are you sure this is why the parent was doing this? I've had type 1 diabetes since I was 5 and when I was younger there were a couple of times when I was 5 or 6 that I had an insulin reaction (meaning very low blood sugar) and my mom had to pour sugar down my throat...

So, without knowing that particular family, I wouldn't judge this particular action by the parent.
