If they have the 24 hour event at MK next year we are thinking about giving it a try - anyone done it? Thoughts - experiences - opinions welcome :) thanks!

The question for next year is when will it be? It originally started as a Leap Year event on Feb 29. Next year is a leap year.

We did it in 2014, we took breaks, we were staying at WL. We were there for the first 5 hours in the morning and the last 5 at night. Did SWW in the afternoon and evening.

Next year is a Leap year, so it could be another One More Disney Day type of event. We were at the last one in 2012. We made it to about 1:30/2am then called it a day. The crowds were very manageable after about 10pm.

We had breakfast at CP for my GSs birthday, stayed til about noon - relaxed at CBR, swam & went back to the MK at about 4pm.

It's a lot of fun, being there when the sun comes up is a magical feeling. The only thing that upset me was most of the rides were closed by 3 am as well as most of the snack carts and places to eat.

I really wish they would do all 4 parks. Maybe not Animal Kingdom tho.

We are moving next year and also hoping to do a 24 hour event. Didn't know it was a leap year thing at first and we thought it was a first day of summer thing. That'll be a bummer as we're going to be moving shortly after leap day.

I say do it!

We did the one this past May. It was a "Disney Bucket List" thing for us. We stayed the full 24 hours and had a lot fun. We even Disney bounded as Rapunzel and Flynn. But it is very tiring to do the full day. We were up around 4am to get ready/be at the bus stop on time...by time we left the event/got back to our resort and showered it was 8am before I got into bed lol.

We did enjoy the beginning early morning hours (it wasn't all that crowded)...it got busy in the afternoon...got even busier around Wishes and calmed back down around midnight. We started to crash around 1am and may have taken a nap in the Tiki Room haha....but other than that we managed to power through the whole time with no naps and not as much caffeine as we expected :).

We would totally do a 24 event again but we wouldn't stay the full 24 hours. I would say to try it once...it is an experience you won't forget. If you do decide to do it a bit of advice...rent a locker. That was the best decision we made. We took extra clothes/shoes etc. and went back and forth to the locker as needed. That way you have a lot of items to help you through the day and you are not lugging it around for 24 hours hehe.

Welcome to the Dis Joe! They closed the rides at 3AM??? Doesn't that defeat the purpose? How long were the rides down? I do like the idea of being there at sunrise. No way I could do a marathon long day at the park, but I like the idea of going in around 5am and getting the "night" feel of some attractions, then watching the sun come up. I'd be outta there by Noon for a nap though. :earsboy:

Yes spase, small world, log, little mermaid were closed at around 3 am as well as most of the smaller rides as far as when they came back up idk, we found a quiet spot and took a nap before heading to the flag pole.
We worked all day then drove down so by 3:30am we were outta gas, only to drive back home pick up are child and come back down and do AK and finish out the weekend at Disney.
It's a lot of fun and you can wear costumes. It's definitely a must do, just wish more stuff was open the whole time.

I say do it. It was on our "Disney bucket list" as well when we went in 2014. Super fun, but the night was pretty crowded. We stayed the following day to take it easy and relax a bit before driving back home. MK was empty that day. :)

We did it in 2015. they changed it in that there were no special characters out...the year before there were lots of rare characters - villians and so forth. But then again the lines were crazy (like 2 hours for Hercules characters at 2am).

This year, it felt like a supersized EMH. Crowded at first (very) and slowly in the wee hours it thinned out (it also rained at midnight clearing out some folks). So it didn't feel all that special to be honest...there was nothing to distinguish it from EMH except a very cheezy Olaf t-shirt they were selling and I think some Olaf themed cupcake. Oh they did have a few dance parties...in particular the dj with chip and dale over in Frontierland was spinning some good songs (I am told by my kids...I like classic rock and pop metal and avoid edm and pop).

We did it for the first time this year & it was one word...disappointing. We went in the AM. There was nothing special going on. Didn't see any rare characters. The only event specific item to purchase was a T-shirt. Not even special cupcakes. :( Crowds were normak (large). We didn't stay the whole day. For us we likely won't do it again unless they plan in more things or we go at night. I would think going in the later hours would be beneficial from a crowd standpoint.
