I've read several boards about the 24 hour day to kick off summer at the MK. Any wisdom on when it would be announced IF it is occurring this year?

Previous years it has been the Friday before Memorial day....and I am scheduled to be there on the May 24 through the first week of June. I am not spending much time planning this trip, we won't be dining much in parks, but I would like to plan for which parks on which days and make my FP+.

What would you guys do?

The 24hr events were always very expensive publicity events for Disney and caused huge scheduling headaches for CM's at MK. As PP's mentioned, not this year.

Not at a time when they are not extending any CM hours at all. A friend of mine was left understaffed at his attraction so they had to under run it and close it early cause it was just him and a manager.

Any word on if this happening I'm waiting with baited breath and ASMo in my cart to book!!

Let's turn every thread into speculation about cutbacks, and how Disney isn't doing anything right.

It might be. But we should throw in some subtle doubt into it.
Just as good as turning it into a thread about hating Frozen, debating whether FP+ has increased lines, or abuse of refillable mugs. It's "kind of a big deal" when prices keep going up and experiences keep going away.

But the 24 hour day isn't something that Disney owes us. It's was a publicity and promotional stunt. Sure, it's fun to speculate whether we'll see it again or not.

I have been to three of them. The one last year was the best I was impressed the monorail ran right up till closing the entire 24 hours.

I would just like to know for planning purposes. We are going to be there the week when there is typically a 24 hour day (not for this event, that was just the week that worked with everyone's schedules). It would just be nice to know before I have to pick fast passes in about 10 days, so I can have my park days finalized! We won't have hoppers and I wasn't planning on saving the MK for Friday unless it happens to be a 24 hour day. I'm just glad we are only doing qs this trip or dining reservations would really have me stressed, lol!

This is exactly the reason I started this thread!!! I am getting close to the window for FP+ for a vacation that I have been saving/planning for, for years!!!! I don't want to be overly detailed with my plan, but I do NEED to map out park days, schedule FP+, and have some clue. there are so many uncertainty's for this trip its driving me nuts!! I guess no news is a NO!!!!:sail:

I feel your pain! It looks like we will be there the same time. Between this, Rivers of Light, and the new Frozen ride/Soarin' opening date uncertainty, this may be the hardest trip I've planned. I'm not too worried about missing stuff for me, but I am bringing my 2 younger cousins with me (the older of the 2 is graduating from college this year) and this will be their first trip/probably once in a lifetime trip. The younger one is only 14. I really want this to be great for them!

Thank you so much just for acknowledging this!! My whole family thinks I'm NUTS!! (to make mine worse...we're doing 14 day flex pass after we finish Disney...so I have to worry about the new Kong opening, MIKO, Hulk being back online, Cobras Curse at Bush Gardens, and how many days to schedule at other parks because of the effects of the new rides. Plus we've NEVER been during summer, or in a Camper.....the logistics are giving me an ulcer)

I get these are all "good problems to have".....but I don't think I can just go with the idea of waking up and picking a park!!!

Wow! That does sound stressful, but it also sounds like an amazing trip! We really wanted to do Universal on our trip, but I just didn't quite have the funds for tickets for all 3 of us. It was cheaper to just do an extra day at Disney. I have an annual pass, so I only had to buy the 2 of them tickets that way. I think I have decided right now I am just planning that there is no 24 hour day and not going to MK that Friday (AM EM hour, not sure if I can get 2 teens out of bed and there)!

Me too...I'm just removing it from the "options" then maybe we'll hop over in the evening if it turns out to be open for 24.

We really hope it will be an amazing trip....We've been planning/Saving for a couple of years and the kids have gotten theme park tickets or gift cards for every holiday for the past two years!! My DD asked me if she could just have clothes for her birthday like a normal kid!! LOL.

This is my plan for Friday too. I didn't get them hoppers since its a first trip and we aren't staying that long. Plus it was a decent cost saving measure since I'm financing this solo as a gift, but our tickets from my TA come with one water park day. Friday is going to be our water park day. If MK ends up being open 24 hours we can come back from the water park, take a nap, and then head to the MK.

I think my 14 (almost 15) year old boy cousin is probably going to be a little disappointed in all of the Disney gift cards and things he is going to get for his birthday in April! His mom has told everyone to get him food/spending money for his trip.
