I have reservations at both the Tropicana and the Park Vue Inn and (obviously) need to cancel one of them. For those of you familiar with these motels, would you pay $230 more for your stay at the Park Vue over the Tropicana?

I know that PVI has breakfast and that really isn't much of a concern for us other than for coffee, and we won't have a car, so no worries about potential parking fees. What is important to us is that the beds are comfortable, that the place is clean and that it's close to the entrance.

Any comments would be much appreciated! Thanks.

I like Tropicana inn and even when they had breakfast it was not the greatest... and there is a Ihop that is like 2 seconds away from the Tropicana it would be cheaper than the park everyday!

When are your reservations? I'd be interested in taking one off your hands if they magically are on my dates!

I have stayed at Tropicana 3 times and have zero complaints. It's not fancy, but it is clean and close! Beds have been comfortable too.

Thanks all. I kind of feel ridiculous not being able to make up my mind. It's not like it's a HUGE difference, but it is pretty substantial when I consider that I could pay for out airport transportation with that money.

We have been to Disneyland twice and both stays were at HoJo's. I had no complaints except for the walk, which was hard for Cam at the end of the night. Would you Tropicana fans say that HoJo's is somewhat comparable? ...Except for the pool and water area, of course...

I just stayed at HoJo for the first time this week and it is definitely nicer than Tropicana. The rooms at Hojo are much bigger, at least ours was, so we could really spread out. It also feels more like a resort, and I liked the balconies and the interior corridors. But the walk was longer and we really felt it by our last day. My son LOVED the water playground so it will be our go to place now for family trips. Tropicana was fine for my solo or adults only trips. Love how close it is!

If the walk really is an issue, then stay closer. Save the money and maybe do a Blue Bayou Fantasmic! package or a character breakfast as a special treat.

I love the Tropicana. We always stay there and go in a big group of 9 or 10 with several littles. We love the short walk, the pool and large hot tub, the rooms are big and clean, beds are soft but comfy, big sink area for mornings, close to food, nice coffee shop onsite with GOOD coffee, nice little grocery shop onsite for essentials, quiet rooms. I just don't think it'd be worth $230 to stay at PVI when I could come up with about a thousand other ways to spend that money that would make me happier!

My experience at PVI goes back 9 years so it may not be up to date. We didn't like it that much. It was a dive. It may not be that way anymore, though. I can say that I've stayed at HoJo and the Trop in the last 6 months. Both are very good places to stay. I figured the Trop would be alot more run down, but it was actually updated and clean. Not as big as the HoJo, and no waterpark, but the close proximity to the parks was really nice. I would save the money and go with the Trop.

Our family loves Tropicana. It's clean, has a small fridge and microwave, beds are.comfy, and a 5 min walk to bag check. It's our go-to motel.

PVI has been completely renovated since that time. New rooms, beds, pool, spa and the grounds have been spruced up as well.

I would absolutely not pay more for PVI. We've done both and we prefer the Tropicana. (Also FWIW, we did breakfast at IHOP exactly once, then discovered it was not any cheaper than eating in DTD or at the parks. That IHOP was pricier than average IHOPs.)

We've done both and we prefer the Tropicana.

May I ask what it is that makes you prefer the Tropicana? And what's the difference between the two pools? We'll be traveling with a 6 year old who loves the water.

Neither pool is, to my mind, remotely special. They're down in the middle of the parking lots and they're not really anything beyond wet. We have gotten better rates at the Tropicana, it felt like the rooms were more spacious and the staff was a little more attentive. Ultimately they're both fine, but when we're choosing, we look at Tropicana first.

We liked the rooftop pool at the Carousel, but after getting a good rate once we've found them consistently higher than the immediately surrounding hotels.

I remember reading about some sort of construction at the Park Vue Inn. Not positive when, but that might be worth looking into.
