Whenever my kids talk about Screamin', they wonder out loud if any one has ever been stuck in a loop on the ride. It kind of freaks them out. I think I'll keep this headline to myself for now. :rolleyes1

Oh dear! Didn't anyone get a picture of this rescue? I'd like to see where the car was stuck.
This gives me pause as DD, 9, and I often ride single rider. Gosh, she'd be so freaked out to be stuck in a car by herself. Hopefully she'd be next to someone nice!

I wonder if there will be a change in procedure for bringing backpacks on the ride. Am surprised the centrifical force didn't keep it in the car. When I used to carry a backpack, I'd always put my leg through the arm strap in case something like this happened. My backpack never did try to escape.

I always put my leg through my backpack strap too! I'm hearing that the person dropped the pack on purpose? It would seem pretty improbable from a physics standpoint for it to fall on the loop.

Dropped it on purpose?! Oh my, why would someone even do that. What if it caused a car to jump the track and people were killed. There are no words for that kind of stupidity. I hope DL presses charges.

Why would people "boat hop" on iasw?

Why would people jump in the water on PotC?

Why would people undo a seat harness and stand right before the drop on BTMRR?

People do amazing things at Disneyland - and theme parks in general - that I will never understand.

Where have you heard this? Everything I'm reading just says, "fell." Thanks!

At least those stunts would likely only harm themselves. Just thinking of how catastrophic this stunt could have been to others give me chills.

I'd probably laugh if I saw someone jump in the water on Potc -- I have a feeling the water is deceptively shallow.
Did someone really stand up on BTMRR? I remember, as a kid, hearing that one of the new's anchors sons stood up on a local roller coaster and was beheaded by the tunnel. I thought of that every time I rode it. Chilling.

I was glad to read they were only twenty feet from the ground when they had to go down the ladder. Years ago (obviously) we had to be evacuated from Rocket Rods at the area between Star Trader and what is now Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. My legs were shaking just walking on the walkway. I can only imagine how shaky I'd be coming off of Screamin'.

I love Screamin but I always worry a little about getting stuck upside down. 20 ft from the bottom of loop isn't upside, but seems like it would be pretty uncomfortable. I would be interested to see pictures too.

Side note: LA Times needs to update their DCA stock photo. Theirs still has the orange, and a MM on the coaster. Guess no one there know about all the changes to the park.

Glad no one was hurt! I hope they didn't drop the backpack on purpose, could of caused a lot of damage.

This is from a different day a few months ago (actually on May 7, 2011 at about 8:30 am). If you look closely, you'll see people on the slope walking down behind the cars, which are stopped on the tracks.
I took this with my camera phone so the quality is not the best, but I thought it might be interesting to show considering the thread topic.

It reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Lisa drinks some of the water from a ride resembling IASW and it has hallucinogenic properties.

"Bart! Stop teasing your sister! Lisa! Drink the water!"

"I can see the muuuuuuuuuuuuusic..."

I am too. It actually makes no sense from my knowledge of physics and experience on the ride. Many coaster and physics experts on micechat have stated firmly that you could actually have NO harnesses on that ride, for the loop, and you wouldn't come out b/c of the forces...but they have to have them b/c people do stupid stupid things.

"who were no more than 20 feet up at the bottom of a loop on the coaster"

=They were at the *bottom* of the loop. 20 feet up from the ground at most. They weren't in the loop.

I've always wondered about someone barfing on the loop....would the car reach the bottom at the same time as the debris? Ewwwwww.

I too am very very glad that no one was injured. I'm guessing a new policy will be in place by tomorrow saying no back packs or other loose objects. And lockers like at GRR will be installed by next week.

Hmm..I am thankful it didnt happen on my ride yesterday. I was on it twice. Strangely, I missed the event that happened because I was park hopping. How strange! I witnessed a man cupping the water from IASW and pouring it on his infant son's face and neck because it was kinda warm yesterday. I was like "ummm...wow!!" Maybe its the heat that is driving some of the park goers mad!! :lmao:

Maybe you witnessed a baptism into the Church of Disney? :littleangel:
