Just arrived home last night after a very Impromptu weekend trip to DLP!
After reading about the Flash sale, we decided on Wednesday night to book a mini trip and left Friday morning for Newport Bay Club. ;)

*HIGHS:
-Booked a great deal at NPB club for a regular room...on arrival, reception said they had upgraded us to a lake view for free. Off to a great start! :thumbsup2

-Snow! Having never been to a Disney park with actual snow falling was a real treat and made for lovely photos!

-Much less crowded than when we were there in Novemeber. For Dreams! on Friday night, you could really have you're choice of where to stand (it was very cold, my guess most people went in early).

-DS was able to trade 2 duplicate Vinyls he had from Christmas gifts (US ones, a Miss Piggy and Phineas) for ones on display he really wanted (Master Gracey and GAM) while the guy behind us was thrilled to get our US ones....it was a win/win! :goodvibes

-DS happened upon Goofy and Pluto in a very empty gift shop in our hotel, where they were pretending to steal Doritos, knocking things off shelves, rearranging postcards...etc...DS thought it was a riot.

-Didn't run into a single unpleasant CM...all were wonderfully helpful, especially in City Hall when getting DS's access pass. And didn't have to wait once to use his pass or given a reservation to come back, got right on every time...which was great considering how cold it was!

-Meeting a Mary Poppin's Penguin at the 4pm show at the DLH! Very excited for that as we've never seen one before. :cool1:

*LOWS:
-Cold...cold...cold....in no way Disney's fault. We thought we were well prepared for it (having lived in Alaska for 4 years, we know cold!) but it was painful! Lol

-The only fault we could find with the NPB was the hard beds...stiff as a board! But great hotel otherwise.

-Very few characters out, but I guess it's to be expected this time of year with the chilly weather? :confused3

Overall...a wonderful trip! Especially when you consider that very little planning went into it, it went off without a hitch! :cheer2:pixiedust:

Hello :goodvibes and welcome home.:wave2:

Sounds like you had a wonderful time :thumbsup2

It is really snowing today and settling nicely too, all the pavements and side streets have a good few cms on them already.

Hi good to hear you had a brilliant time. The first time we went to dlp it was just before Christmas 2010 and we had snow it made it even more magical!

Am really interested on ur thoughts/opinions on NPC we are heading here in June but am a bit wary as have read so many poor reviews on the hotel

Sounds like you had a great trip. DLP is lovely in the snow, and did not know they did Vinylmation trading, thats somthing I've never got into to. Pins are enough for us.

We actually really liked it! Having read some poor reviews both on here and Tripadvisor, we were taking a gamble...lol...however, we thought it was just fine! Granted, it could use some paint and perhaps new mattresses....but all in all, couldnt fault it a bit.

We found the CMs there to be far more friendly than those from our stay at the SL in November. I'm sure you'll have a great trip, don't worry! :thumbsup2

And DS collects pins also, but will never trade them. It's so easy to get a duplicate Vinyl in those mystery boxes, sometimes trades are a must. It's great that they offer it. ;)

Im glad you enjoyed your trip very pleased to hear you liked npb im going to stop reading the trip adviser posts now i think.

Glad to hear you had a great time and how good they were getting a GAC. We got ours to be linked to our AP's so need to return each time to get a new one.

I have been wondering what it will be like to be in Disney in the cold, not the fun and sun of Florida.

Thanks for the trip report.

OMG! Thank goodness we are booked here for two big birthdays in September and the reviews recently have been making my hair stand on end :scared1: Can start looking forward to our trip now :cool1:
