22 days until DL trip- DS appendicitis- surgery now..

Here I am at home- midnight- waiting for DH to call back to say that our DS (8) is fine from his emergency appendectomy surgery.

They went to hospital on their own tonight- to let his big brother (11) sleep and me to make calls to call in sick for work if needed.
I had a hunch it was appendicitis but had hoped for typical virus/ infection.

So I am sitting and anxiously waiting to hear how it went.. then it dawns on me.. we have only 22 days before our trip!

Please send well wishes this way that he has no complications and a speedy recovery!
He will likely miss a week of school plus we plan for him to miss 4 days in May for the trip - too many days to miss now.. but we will work hard to fininsh make up work.

Hugs and lots of hope that all goes well and I'm sure you will make your trip. I had an Appendectomy as a kid and flew thru it. Just make sure that the Dr. says all the running araound and G forces are okay so soon afterwards. My Dr. said I could do much of anything for about a month after.

My DS had an emergency appendectomy last summer - he was only 2 years old at the time! He was in the hospital 7 days and by day 7 he was RUNNING up and down the halls with his IV pole trailing behind him. Kids can bounce back so quickly when they're young.

He came thru surgery just fine- slowly walking the halls today.
Poor kid has not been able to keep anything down - has bad nausea, he might get meds to help with that.

By late afternoon he wanted to walk fast in the hallways (had to slow him down!) and then fell into a deep hard sleep in the early evening. Less pain later in day.. I'm thinking he will bounce thru this very quickly!
